Very impressed

by JoshuaFL, from United States, FL Written on February 11, 2015
Great scope. Went to the range and had it zero'd in 10 minutes. The scope has a very crisp sharp image, and the quality of the construction is HIGH. I am extremely happy with this purchase, which makes me very happy, since I bought two!...

Rivals Leupold VXIII

by Terry, from United States, TN Written on January 21, 2015
Before ordering the Vortex Diamond Back 4-12x40 I ordered a Nikon Pro Staff 4-12x40. I was not happy with the Nikon due to a very small field of view as well as a much greater length and added weight. While researching the scopes in my price range(Retired now and can't afford Leupold VXII's and VXIII's) the Vortex Diamond Back 4-12x40 appeared to have a much larger field of view than the Nikon while being a couple inches shorter and lighter. It was about the same price and has great reviews. I kept the Nikon and ordered the Vortex for comparison. The Vortex is superior in every way in a side by side comparison. Zeroed the rifle with the Vortex today(Jan20,2015) and while I had it on the sand bags I compared it to the Nikon, a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 and a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x50. The Nikon is not bad in clarity and brightness but the larger field of view with the Vortex makes it seem much brighter and sharper. The Vortex is much clearer and brighter than the Leupold VXII(an older scope) and the equal of the VXIII. Again, these results were logged while looking through each scope side by side. Some reviewers have said they had a problem with eye relief and while the listed eye relief is slightly less than a Leupold I noticed no significant difference while comparing to my Leupolds that are already in service. This was shooting off the bench where this is most noticed. One review said the Vortex would require extended rings in order to work on long action rifles. I mounted my Vorte...

Vortex 3-9x40

by Stickbow, from United States, TN Written on December 23, 2014
I ordered the 3-9 Diamondback and when the scope came in, inside the Vortex scope box was a 4-12x40 instead of a 3-9x40 even though the scope box said Diamondback 3-9x40. I returned the scope in exchange for the 3-9 since it has about 2/10 more eye relief and the eye relief on Vortex scopes are a tad short anyways....

Looks great, built to stand some bumps , came in in perfect condition. Can't wait to mount it on my AR-15, and try it out. Well made and the MOA adjustments are easy to get to and make the adjustments.
Also bought my lapping kit from here, waiting for that to come in....

Proven for Me

by Dearless Bob, from United States, AL Written on August 29, 2014
I just ordered my third Vortex Diamondback from Optics Planet. I finally shot some good groups with my .204 today thanks to the Vortex. I had a Nikon on it previously and it can't compete. The third Vortex is supposed to ship next week. Trying to decide whether to put it on my new muzzleloader or exchange it out for the Redfield Revolution on one of my deer rifles. The Revolution is a good scope but its field of view seems a lot smaller than that he Diamondback....

Diamondback 3-9x40 BDC

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TX Written on February 18, 2014
If you are looking for a 3-9x40, and you have not tried vortex, do yourself a favor and buy this scope. I felt like I got way more than what I paid for just minutes out of the box. This scope has that quality heft to it. Adjustments are crisp. The field of view is like looking through a 2-8 variable. Very clear glass, I can't stress the quality enough. You won't regret it.
Pros: Clarity, Field of view, VIP Warranty
Cons: I only have one. ...

I have this scope mounted on my Ruger American Rifle in .243 Win. I use it for coyote hunting and some long range shooting. Thre diamondback has performed better than I ever expected. I removed a Buckmaster to use this scope and it is superior to that scope in everyway. I high recommend this scope

My grandson mounted this scope on his new Howa 30-06. This his second year of deer hunting. He is 16, he did not bore sight the rifle, just took 4 shots to adjust to get it in the bulls eye.
Pros: Price, setup, easy to use...
