Can't beat the quality for the price

by Bern, from United States, FL Written on April 9, 2015
I have Vortex crossfire II's for my sons rifle, Diamondback's for my .300 Win mag bold actions, and Viper PST's for my FN DMR. Simply a quality scope that is the best for the money and with the best warrant in the business.
Need I say more -- buy 2 of them for the same price as other scopes not 1/2 as good....

Vortex 4-12x40 BDC scope

by Bob, from United States, OR Written on March 28, 2015
I own many scopes by big name manufacturers. I put this scope on a 7mm-08 for one of my adult daughters. The glass is as bright as any of the best with clarity all the way out to the edges. The back optic adjusted easily to my old eyes allowing a sharp image of both the reticle and the target. Many scopes boast 1/4 MOA click adjustments at 100 yards but don't meet that. This scope REALLY is 1/4 MOA at 100 yards. After sight-in, this scope allowed a 1 inch box. Hitting a 350 yard 12' inch gong was a breeze. This is a great scope for the price. Go Vortex!...

Rivals Leupold VX III in Brightness and Clarity

by Terry, from United States, TN Written on January 28, 2015
Before ordering the Vortex Diamond Back 4-12x40 I ordered a Nikon Pro Staff 4-12x40. I was not happy with the Nikon due to a very small field of view as well as a much greater length and added weight. While researching the scopes in my price range(Retired now and can't afford Leupold VXII's and VXIII's) the Vortex Diamond Back 4-12x40 appeared to have a much larger field of view than the Nikon while being a couple inches shorter and lighter. It was about the same price and has great reviews. I kept the Nikon and ordered the Vortex for comparison. The Vortex is superior in every way in a side by side comparison. Zeroed the rifle with the Vortex today(Jan20,2015) and while I had it on the sand bags I compared it to the Nikon, a Leupold VXII 3-9x40 and a Leupold VXIII 3.5-10x50. The Nikon is not bad in clarity and brightness but the larger field of view with the Vortex makes it seem much brighter and sharper. The Vortex is much clearer and brighter than the Leupold VXII(an older scope) and the equal of the VXIII. Again, these results were logged while looking through each scope side by side. Some reviewers have said they had a problem with eye relief and while the listed eye relief is slightly less than a Leupold I noticed no significant difference while comparing to my Leupolds that are already in service. This was shooting off the bench where this is most noticed. One review said the Vortex would require extended rings in order to work on long action rifles. I mounted my Vorte...

Can't be beat!

by dwill1684, from United States, OK Written on January 16, 2015
I recently purchased this scope after doing a ton of research and now that I've had a chance to use it I believe that for the $ it can't be beat. It's incredibly clear even at 12x. It gathers tons of light and I love the simplicity of it having a fixed objective. I own several other scopes in this price range (Nikon buckmaster, nikon prostaff, Redfield revenge, etc.) and the Vortex Diamondback is hands above the rest!! I've always been a Nikon guy and was hesitant to buy a Vortex at first, but I have officially been converted and will only purchase Vortex scopes from now on! Do yourself a favor and make the switch too!...
Pros:
  • Price, Brightness and Clarity
Cons:
  • None.

Great scope for the money

by DEAN PUCKETT, from United States, IN Written on January 1, 2015
I have several Leopold and Nikon scopes but needed another for a new rifle. Being close to Christmas didn't have the extra money for a more expensive scope so after reading the reviews decided to try the Vortex. Scope did not disappoint. Clarity was excellent and viewing at dusk was superb. Adjustment was easy with the raised adjusting turrets. Will be purchasing another for a different rifle in the near future. The only thing bad about the scope is my son missed a big buck with that rifle a few days after mounting it. That wasn't the scopes fault though....
Pros:
  • Great value, great scope
Cons:
  • None

NOT a high quality scope.

by Koot1971, from United States, LA Written on December 22, 2014
Poor eye relief, Not a very clear scope, especially in low light. I Have the same scope in 3x9 W/O BDC reticle and it works great. I'm not real sure if I got a lemon or what,so I returned this scope.I'm not sure what scope I'll buy next....

IMPRESSED

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, WA Written on April 13, 2014
I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CLARITY OF THE LENSES. I CAN DEFINITELY COMPARE THE GLASS TO THAT OF A ZEISS. THE TURRETS WERE NICE AND TIGHT AND EASY TO ZERO. THE TURRETS WERE EASY TO RESET THE ZERO. I HAVE PUT ABOUT 300 RDS THROUGH MY .308 AND HAS NOT LOST ZERO. I WILL BE PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE FOR MY OTHER RIFLES.
Pros: MEETS MY EXPECTATIONS
Cons: WISHED IT WAS A MIL-DOT RETICLE...

Hard to beat for the money !!

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CT Written on March 31, 2014
I don't know how you can beat the Vortex Diamondback for the $$. I would say this scope easily compares to scopes that price $100+ more. Vortex gets great reviews for their warranty... I cant' say I have had a chance to find out...hopefully I never do. Overall very happy with the optics. This scope will do the job just fine on my Remington 700....

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on November 16, 2013
A great scope at any price. Easy to use turrets, great view, handy BDC. Varmints Beware ! I have a couple of these and would buy more. I vastly prefer this scope to Nikons that it replaced in the same price range.
Pros: Very cost effective, excellent glass, high power lightweight
Cons: none...
