Great scope

by JohnnyD, from New Zealand, BAY OF PLENTY Written on August 4, 2014
This is my second vortex viper purchase, I like them a lot. You get great value for money here! The vari power bar is a great idea and makes it so easy to shift power levels. The glass is crystal clear and the whole unit is well put together. First thing I ever do is dunk them in a bucket of water.
And no they dont leak....

Vortex Viper 4-12 x 40

by Imspuds, from United States, CA Written on August 2, 2014
Caught this on sale for $360.00 and what a scope for the money. It comes boxed with a Vortex lapel Pin, dust cloth and lens caps. Mounted it to a Ruger American 270 with Leupold 1" PRW low mounts and what a perfect fit with a bit of room left for the lens cap to fit over the front bell. This is my first Vortex but certainly will not be my last....
Pros:
  • great glass
  • great quality
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting and shooting

Mr. Whitetail

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, TN Written on February 23, 2014
This scope fits nicely on my Winchester Model 70 270wsm. I wanted to show gratitude to Vortex for replacing a 5 year old pair of binoculars, under warranty, with no questions asked. I think the length of this scope looks awesome on longer barreled hunting rifles. The glass is great in any light. I also try to purchase American companies. Vortex has it going in the right direction.
Pros: Great Glass, Overall length
Cons: none...

Hands Down

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TN Written on September 23, 2010
I compared this to the new Nikon M-223 2-8x32, Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40, and Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x42. At the same power settings 8x on the Nikon, 9x on the Leupold, and 10x on the Monarch, this scope is more clear. Brightness is about the same as the Monarch and Mark AR. Turrets feel better, click better, and the PA is perfect for what it's needed for. Mounted on Bushmaster AR flat top with RRA Hi-Rise mount. Sighted at 100 yards and putting 3 shots at about 1 to 1.5 MOA (I'm using PMC and Lake City XM193's at the range, so not too bad for cheap ammo) on a bag rest. Shot about 70 rounds through and scope stayed dead on. Being to Zero set the turrets with a lift and turn and back to zero is great. I bought the one with the regular plex reticles, just didn't see much sense in getting all the BDC stuff on a gun that I'm going to keep under 350 yards and probably 200 yards for the most part on varmits, coyotes, and other fun targets.
Pros: Clarity, Parallax Adjustment...
