First experience with Vortex Rings

by blairh, from United States, TX Written on March 16, 2015
I purchased these rings as a replacement for a Leupold 2-piece set up that were skewed and would not let my scope bring the rifle to hit POA. Since the scope was a Vortex, I decided to give their rings a try.

These rings are stout to say the least. They have a nut (vs. screw or allen head)to tighten the rings onto a picatinny rail which can be tightened without the fear of burgering up the head. And they have 6 star-head screws on each ring (3 per ring side); consequently it takes a few minutes longer to mount the scope, but once tightened down they should never come loose from shooting. The additional width required for the 3 screws is a non-issue when mounting a scope to a 1-piece picatinny rail.

Although the are my first Vortex tactical rings, they will not be my last....

optic ring

by SP, from United States, GA Written on February 28, 2015
Vortex is quickly becoming my source for all my optic needs. They are high quality at a much lower price. These rings have a hefty look that is a great match for tactical firearms, yet they are light weight. You can pay 30 to 50 percent more from other high end manufacturers, but the quality would be the same. These particular rings were purchased to mount a Vortex optic on a Tavor rifle. Tavor's need a very high ring in order to comfortably aim it. This model of Vortex ring is the tallest that I could find in this tactical look....

Great Value for the money

by Amade, from United States, RI Written on February 25, 2015
Unfortunately buried in snow but can't wait to get outside and try it out. Fits my Rem 700 perfectly with nice full eye relief. Illuminated reticle is clear and easily adjustable. Like the MRAD reticle....

Vortex quality

by MurphyTN, from United States, TN Written on January 28, 2015
I ordered these at the same time as my new Vortex scope and these are the quality you would expect from Vortex. It was a nice touch to see the torque specs listed in the installation instructions as well. Just one more thing that say Vortex is about customer service and a quality product. The installation was fast and easy and the rings are solid as a rock. It was not mentioned in the instructions but I did use small amount of small screw thread locker just to make me feel better. Great product for the value....
Pros:
  • Value for money
Cons:
  • none!
Best Used for:
  • hunting or tactical use

Good product for reasonable price

by Pat, from United States, IA Written on January 3, 2015
Fit and finish were good. The low size was almost too low for my application but worked out. I switched up some of cap screws in their original holes, it still worked, just went in a little bit harder....

Vortex Riflescope Ring

by Firewagon, from United States, GA Written on December 20, 2014
Overall excellent product. Not sure why I thought Vortex made their stuff in the good ole U.S. of A; however, that is not the case. These are produced in China, and their optics, I understand, are from several places? The only reason for the 4 star rating, as these rings are robust, are the 'star' type ring bolts. You must either have your own or, make sure you don't lose the one provided. I would have preferred an Allen Wrench style or, another more common tool requirement. The bolts are fine threaded and six per ring. Though these rings are "quick release" style, if you have to adjust the ring spacing from one rifle to another, you will be spending some time!...

Heavy duty rings

by Biskit, from United States, TX Written on October 2, 2014
These rings went under my Vortex Viper and they are the most solid rings I've ever used. They are very tough and rugged but for the price it's to be expected. If someone is going to buy a scope of any real cost then I would highly recommend these rings....

Vortex 30mm Tactical

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on December 20, 2013
I would not use these on a scope in fear of damaging the scope. I ordered 2 rings and I kid you not they did not match. They had different size screws and bolts. Looks like they were made at a different factories. I am very disappointed I purchased a vortex viper scope with these wrings and will be purchasing a set of wrings from a different company.
Pros: none
Cons: poor design...
