Crystal clear glass, positive turrets and lightweight optic

by C, from United States, TX Written on February 10, 2015
Title says it all. Really long optic, especially with the provided sunshade, so this is more at home on a long gun. I'll be mounting it on a Remington 700 long range in 30-06. The reticle is simple and useable. Kinda wish I'd gotten the mildot but they discontinued it. 30mm tube is outstanding to have in a long range optic. Combine that with the 50mm objective and you have a killer setup
Optics planet really helped me out matching a lower price when I bought it. I order from more places then I'd like to admit and There customer service is the best hands down. I'll be a customer for life....
Pros:
  • clear glass
  • Positive clicks and locking adjustments
  • lightweight but durable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Long-Range Shooting
  • Target/Varmint

Mr. G Winlund

This is the 2nd Vortex Viper 6-24x50 rifle scope that I've purchased in as many months. They've been the best all around value for the price that I've found. I own several Leupold and Nikon optis and for the buck the Vortex competes well. I would no hesitate to by them again. You can't beat a life time warranty either. won't hesitate to recommend them to others....

Awesome product and even better customer service

by Matt, from United States, CA Written on December 28, 2014
Vortex is known for a top quality product at a reasonable price. The BDC Dead Hold model follows through and delivers consistent and accurate results every time the hammer falls. Vortex offers a ballistics calculations tool to allow for proper setup which I found helpful for dialing in my 6.5 Creedmor. I am still making adjustments but I am tickled to death with the performance so far I can't wait for testing it out over 600 yards. Optics Planet I want to thank you for keeping the market honest and competitive while following through and delivering not only on time but as promised....

Viper HS 6-24x50

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, MI Written on March 4, 2014
I chose this scope because of price and the fact that it came with a sunshade and the specs said it had 4" of eye relief. After I got this scope mounted it became very apparent that the eye relief is less than 4" at 24x.
Pros: Nice scope with what seems to be good glass
Cons: 4" eye relief is not constant!...

Vortex Viper HS 6-24X50

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CT Written on August 29, 2013
In my opinion the Optics quality/clarity is not as good as the Vortex HS 6-20X50. I have both scopes.
There is a curious red dot between 12 and 24X on the scope adjustment ring. It's not mentioned in the manual so I called Vortex Tech support. They said it's the power setting that the BDC is most accurate, "around 18X". I can live with that since it's Second Focal Plane scope. Overall, I'm pleased with the product but I should of kicked in more $$$ and bought a First Focal Plane Scope.
Pros: Good Value for the money...
