Vortex HS-T 6-24x50

by Dakota Sparks, from United States, LA Written on January 11, 2015
Great value for the money!! I purchased this scope to put on a Savage 10 FP in 308. My first impressions when I unboxed it was that the fit and finish of the scope is impeccable! I really like the fiber optic rods set into the adjustment ring and adjustment knobs, they allow you to see with a quick check without picking up your head. The parallax works like it should, with all yardages that I observed (500 and under) coming into crisp, clear focus. The scope tracked very precisely when putting it on paper, and a "box test" showed less than 1% error in it's adjustments, which is incredible for a scope in this price range. It's fairly lightweight, and maintains good light transmission all the way up through it's power range. The reticles subtensions are accurate and well thought out, and it's fine enough for precision work but not so fine that it gets lost against your background. I would put this scope up against any scope in it's prove range and it would win hands down. Thanks OpticsPlanet for having the best price around....

Haven't been to the range with it yet, but the glass seems to be very clear and light is really good. A friend has a lot of experience with these scopes and really likes Vortex products and especially their customer service....

Great product, very impressed with the Vortex Viper lines and own several. Great adjustments for long range shooting and I am very pleased with how clear this glass is along with the overall range of vision. It is very hard to top how much you get for the money on this product. Big thumbs up from me!...

Viper HST is the best bang for the buck scope

by Richie H, from United States, TX Written on October 15, 2014
Best scope for the money. Great glass. This is my third Vortex scope and they all are excellent. Target turrets have firm clicks, comes with a sunshade and of course, the Vortex warranty. I can't wait to get my barrelled action back from Krieger so I can mount this scope and get some range time
In. It's going on a #10 MTU that 24 inches long with a Fox muzzle brake. That's going in an AICS 1.5 stock with a Jewell trigger and Leupold Mark 4 medium rings. That should make a really fun package....
Pros:
  • Great glass,Price,Build quality, looks great

Impressed on First Occasion

by Ryan, from United States, CO Written on September 15, 2014
This scope is my first real performance optic. It performed perfectly the first time out. Dials were accurate during sight in. Holdover out to 16MOA proved accurate with the reticle later at 600yds.

I don't have alot to compare it to, but it was exactly what I was looking for....

great scope

by Grumpy, from United States, IA Written on September 7, 2014
This was my second purchase of this Vortex scope. They are very clear. The turrets are very positive and adjust properly. The power adjustment is stiff, but will get better with use. I like the focus adjuster on the left hand side of the scope. Makes for easy adjustment. If I feel the need I will buy another....

Good solid reliable scope.

by Stinkythecat, from United States, AL Written on August 29, 2014
This is a well built scope that's very user friendly. When you take it out of the box the first thing you will notice is it is not light! It's built like a tank. That's what I want in a tactical scope. The vortex delivers with rock solid very positive clicks on the turrets. The zero stop feature is very handy and can keep you out of trouble if you lose count of clicks or how many rotations on the turret you've gone. Compared to a mk4 leupold the vortex is slightly more critical for eye alignment. The vortex doesn't have quite the resolution compared to a mk4. I'm splitting hairs here as these differences are very slight and arguably not worth discussing considering the several hundred dollar price difference for a comparable mk4. The MOA reticle is simple and very effective. Each line is 2 MOA making fast aiming at long range easy if you don't have time to dial in your turret. The reticle is calibrated for use on 14 power. The magnification dial has a distinguishable notch/click you feel as you turn it making it obvious when you are on 14 power. Long story short you don't have to look at it to know exactally when it's set to 14. Overall the scope is very impressive. I was sceptical to try something new but I'm glad I did. Optics planet offers great prices too which always helps....

Vice President

For the money, Vortex holds their own with many of their more expensive competitors. I shoot long distance (1000yd) and the Vortex is as clear and accurate as any NightForce made. I only buy Vortex now, have purchased three this year and won't even consider another brand....
