Great Sight!

by Craig Dickson, from United States, NC Written on April 11, 2015
The StrikeFire sight is exactly as advertised; a great sight for the price. Dot controls are easy to operate and the finish is very high quality, dot is crisp and co-witnesses great on my Colt LE6920. I like Vortex's lifetime warranty but I doubt I will ever have the need to use it....

Great sight, not so great mount

by epicEric, from United States, PA Written on April 8, 2015
I have no complaints about the StrikeFire II itself, mainly about the mount. The mounts was not snug on the rail. I have a Colt LE6920. The mount wobbled even though I tightened the screw as much as I could hand tighten it. May have just been a defective mount....

Great Red Dot

by Oh, from United States, CA Written on March 31, 2015
This is my first red dot and you can't beat the price and the VIP warranty. Controls are easy to toggle and construction is superb! I have this mounted on my AR Pistol and I can't wait to shoot it. I would recommend this for anyone on a budget without compromising features/specs. Watch the reviews on youtube and you'll see why this is highly recommended....
Pros:
  • solid construction
  • user friendly
  • Most Bang For Your Buck
  • VIP Warranty (transferable)
Cons:
  • None

Yes and maybe?

by Max, from United States, IN Written on March 25, 2015
Having only used this unit once in the field for target shooting on a AR15 platform. Shooting sixty rounds at fifty yards the optic dot crept down about six inches after adjusting the elevation to bring the point of impact down from about four inches high. The creep seemed to happen after each set of five rounds. I watched the dot creep down until it seemed to stop. Then brought the elevation back up to zero. The dot appeared to stay on target after the compensation was made.

What I believe happened was there was backlash in the adjusting screw. When I made the adjustment to bring the dot down there was backlash in the setting screw and the following rounds shocked the optics to move to a "set" position i.e., no backlash in the downward direction. After I over compensated for the downward creep and brought the optics back up to zero the dot appeared to stay set after about twenty five rounds. I cannot say for sure that I am correct with my opinion but it appears that removing backlash in the elevation screw was required to make the dot settle in and stay in place.

Since I have not had the unit back on range to confirm my assumption my opinion is at this time speculation. I have not talked to the Vortex people about this issue yet but I will provide them with my observation after a few more trips to the range.

The other negative although a minor one is the dot is not a perfect circular image. I assume the quality of the glass coating to correct for dispersion of the laser l...

Sight that exceeds expectations

by Sheepdog23, from United States, IN Written on March 24, 2015
Sight mounted easily and securely to my AR. Easy to zero and has held its zero since mounting it. The sight is well constructed and durable. I am very happy with this Vortex product. I work in Law Enforcement and was hesitant to purchase after having an aimpoint at work. However, the Strikfire II has performed equally if not better than the Aimpoint thus far. I have this on my personal weapon and trust it to defend my home!...

Best Bang for the Buck

by HipShot, from United States, UT Written on March 19, 2015
The Vortex StrikeFire II Red Dot Scope is a great product for the price. I have built several guns this past year and on everyone of them I Placed a Strikefire II Scope, it is rugged, and reliable. I have had other high dollar red dots, but for the money the Vortex is just as good as the high dollar ones....

Unit defective on receipt and still awaiting exchange

by Fastex, from United States, TX Written on March 18, 2015
I received a Vortex StrikeFire II Red Dot from OpticsPlanet.com in seemingly good condition -- all the packaging and hardware were factory-fresh, with no sign of damage during shipping. Unfortunately, however, the green dot function was dead.

The unit as a whole appeared to be sturdily constructed, the glass was fine, and the red dot functioned normally without overly much blossoming (no astigmatism here).

Based on the dead green dot, I've returned the unit to OpticsPlanet.com for an exchange. They've received the return package, but I've not yet seen any activity toward sending a new unit out. Hopefully that will happen soon; I'd hoped there might be a little faster handling of exchange items that were defective on the customer's receipt. If possible, I'll update this review based on the second StrikeFire II that I receive. In the meantime, I could not recommend the item....

Nice optic

by Matt, from United States, NC Written on March 18, 2015
Nice optic for the price. Fired 200 rounds through my AR when I got it. Zeroed in 12 shots, the dot is slightly elongated, may consider the Vortex SPARC2 next time since it supposedly has a smaller dot. Would recommend using some loctite on the mounting screw as it got slightly loose after 200 rounds. All in all I'm satisfied with the purchase....
