Pros:  Sturdiness; perfect machining.
Cons:  Weight.

No demerits whatsoever for the weight, as Warne also sells aluminum rings if you prize low weight, but tells you upfront that these rings are steel. My rings are securing a large sniper scope, so I chose the steel purposely. No lapping was necessary. The machining is awesome, and you can tighten, loosen, and tighten the rings again on a scope w/o marring the tube. A full 8 screws hold the ring halves together! For a lightweight AR &/or carbine application, go w/alum.
