excellent scope!

by Danny, from United States, NY Written on December 17, 2014
Great sight picture w/ extended eye relief! Easy target acquisition; I've turned my Mosin Nagant M44 into a versatile deer rifle w/ this little Weaver. Aiming with both eyes open was a surprisingly easy adjustment to make. You can jump a deer, visually track it through the woods while waiting for a good shot, and then put the crosshairs where they need to be… all in one smooth continuum....

Perfect scout scope for longer shots!

by Pre-64, from United States, TX Written on August 29, 2014
I'm very impressed. This thing is tiny, but really fits the bill nicely. Perfect eye relief for mounting ahead of my M94 Winchester action and clear as a bell. I'm no stranger to scout scopes, having tried 2x pistol scopes (wrong answer) and putting a 2.75x Burris on a mini-14. But for my 30-30 I wanted a little more power for 200 yard range with Leverevolution ammo. I think I got exactly what I was looking for. The more I use scout scopes the more I like them. When I look in a conventional scope now, I want to move it away from my face because I can't see around it.

I used a vintage Leupold forward mount for my pre-64 Winchester M94 and this Weaver 4x centered perfectly on that mount for ideal eye relief. Man am I happy with this purchase! I am now wondering if I should have bought one of these for my Mini-14 instead of the Burris!...
Pros:
  • Perfect eye relief
  • Exceptionally bright
  • Very compact
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Scout scope for longer shots

Weaver 4x28 Classic Scout Scope (Excellent for my application)

by Onearm, from United States, WA Written on August 23, 2014
I already own several Weaver scopes along with several higher end more expensive scopes. No Weaver has ever disappointed me. I bought the Weaver 4X28 Scout Scope to mount on my recently purchased Rossi M-92 lever action rifle. As usual, the scope is exactly as expected: clear sharp glass, stable crosshairs and no manufacturing defects.
The only drawback is the narrow field of view, compared to similar scout scopes from Leupold and Burris. That goes along with the Weaver being 4X, while the others are closer to 2.5X. The Weaver is a great scope at the price....
Pros:
  • Price, performance and warranty
  • Price performance quality
Cons:
  • None

weaver 4x28 scout scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, SC Written on June 25, 2014
I mounted the scope on a .30 cal. M-1 carbine using an Ultimak forward mount. I've had the gun since I was 14 (am 60 now) and I'm no longer able to keep the sights and target in focus at the same time. I set up at 25 yds. and it took 3 shots to hit a dime size bull. The first shot being at 5 o'clock 3 in. out, the second at 5 o'clock 1 in. out, and the third dead center. I then moved out to 50 yds. and hit 2 1/4 in. high. one more adjustment and the remainder of the 10 shot clip shot out the dime. My 10 year old grandson was with me and he kept all but 4 shots in the dime, with the furthest impact being 7/8 in. from center. The location only allowed me to shoot at 50 yds., but I have no doubt that it will perform well out at 200 yds., which is where I consider to be the end of the bullet's effective range. Sharp images and positive click adjustments combined with light weight make this a truly usable scope. Eye relief is more generous than advertised and when you pull the gun up you're on target without having to move your head around trying to focus or find your target. I gave it a 3 on features because the parallax is set at 50 yds. and can't be adjusted.
Pros: sharp images, positive elevation and windage adjustments
Cons: could have a parallax adjustment...
