Cons:  none

Weaver has always been a good name with quality products. This V3 is one of my favorite scopes. This V3 sits on top of an AR carry handle...old school. Both eyes open on low power and the ability to take longer shots on high power. Very practical and no batteries to worry about. Great brush scope and dangerous game scope. Great 3-gun scope!

Pros:  Very clear optics
Cons:  Would prefer tactical turrets for deflection and elevation adjustments
Would recommend:  yes

General Geoff wrote:

This scope is very clear and an excellent buy. Great choice for mounting on an AR style rifle for 3 gun matches. Similar scopes by other companies are far more expensive. This was one of three scopes discussed in an article by the NRA.

This could have been a great little scope, however at 1x there was extreme fisheye viewing with a little distortion at 1.5x. At 2x and 3x it was okay. I sent it back for refund.

Author: John LeVick (verified customer) from Lubbock, TX on Mar 17, 2011
Pros:  Excellent optics, low price, repeatable adjustments, nice, tough matte finish
Cons:  Should come with lens caps
Would recommend:  yes

I bought this for a former partner who'd had an identical one, mounted on a Marlin 336, stolen from his vehicle. The previous one was one I'd once owned, and it was great on my Model 70 .375 H&H. While not "Austrian quality," it isn't "Austrian priced," either. I mounted the new one up on his replacement 336, and it took exactly 3 rounds to get it rough-zeroed, with very little adjustment needed to get it dead-on at 50 yards, where he wanted it set for hog-whacking.

Pros:  See Comments
Cons:  Poor Low Light Performance
Would recommend:  yes

Just a hunter wrote:

This scope is a great buy for the money. The next step up (Leupold) is nearly twice the price. Overall, this scope offers great field of vision, is easy to mount and was quick to zero on a mini 14. The scope is very bright, except for very low light conditions, in which case you should probably not be shooting anything anyway. For those of you who have never used a low power scope, it is normal to see the end of the barrel through the scope until you get to around 2X. I would recommend for a target / varmint rifle as this scope is well built, weatherproof, and offers a long eye relief for quick target acquisition.

Bright, clear and edge-to-edge sharp. Samll size matches my .22 very well. Haven't tried any high-end scopes but I guess one has to pay times more to gain a little bit of improvement of optical performance.

Pros:  True 1x on the low end, High quality glass; easy to zero and holds zero very well; very light, considerably cheaper than competitors
Cons:  No illumination; shame its not 1-4. Noticable shift in eye relief between 1x and 3x
Would recommend:  yes

Bought this scope for my new 3 gun hobby. Mounted on AR-15 in a American Defense Recon 1 high end mount. This scope represents fantastic value when you compare to others. The closest competitor is the Millett DMS-1 - but that's $40 more expensive and is a big heavy beast and made in China - this Weaver is nice and light and made in Japan. Quality of glass is excellent, as clear as more expensive scopes, and noticable clearer than the DMS-1. Adjustment works as advertized - the clicks correlate to the 1/4 inch adjustment they are supposed to, unlike cheap Chinese scopes on which it is often anyone's guess. Holds zero very well, and is perfectly zeroed throughout the entire zoom range - an area where a lot of the more inexpensive scopes fall down. True 1 power on the low end again a huge bonus compared to DMS-1 which only goes down to 1.25. Dual X reticle extremely sharp and clear. On the con side, its a shame they didn't make this a 1-4 and there is no illumination option. I ...
