Pros: Function (works well for 1st gen) and clarity. Good warantee and cost.
Cons: No good for mounting on a gun.
Would recommend: yes

Not counting using a Starlight scope in Viet Nam, I have used several night vision scopes over the years and this one is the 3rd that I have actually owned. My first was OK, my 2nd lasted only a short time. This Yukon works quite well, no spots (though spots are normal), and very clear. Some wrote in and said it was hard to set up. It was! It took a good 45 to 60 seconds to get it right. After about a minute you're eye-ballin' the dark. Focus the FRONT lens first.
Better than I thought!!

If you want to see in the dark and not break the bank this scope is for you. I can see the individual leaves on the trees. Not what you see on tv or the movies but unless you very high quality pictures this does work.
Was completely and pleasantly surprised...

Cons: No negatives.

I had read many a review on the internet of how Gen 1 optics were "useless" and that you would be better off with a nice flashlight... despite this I took the plunge and bought this optic for a recent hog hunt in central Texas. Boy was I pleasantly surprised! This tool was FAR from useless. It was a clear weekend with a 3/4 moon. I could see several hundred yards at night. Clearly. We even did an experiment and I could see how many fingers a person was holding up at about 80 yards across the pasture. In the deep woods, the illuminator was necessary, but worked fantastically. Watch out hogs, with this great tool they are no longer safe in the dark.

This is my first night vision device, and I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of the images I'm seeing. My son is in the military, and warned me away from binoculars because of the difficulties involved with focusing lenses for both eyes. He recommended a good monocular, and I'm very happy with my purchase. I feel this unit is a very good value.

Pros: Good price; wide angle field of view; weather resistant, infrared illuminator really lights things up if they're within 40 or 50 feet.
Cons: Difficult to get focused view on startup, but with patience I got it dialed in after about a half hour of messing with it.
Would recommend: yes

Takes a little getting used to if one isn't used to the green effect on images. When I first tried it out I was disappointed with what I saw but then I finally got it focused properly and found I could easily make out the Saguarro cactus across the road from my front yard; thast's adiatance of about 500 feet. I'm now quite pleased with it's performance and I'm glad I made the purchase.

Cons: The night vision lense was painted white on the main lense inside so you can't see during the night at all. This was a fraud product and I will never buy from this company again.
Would recommend: no

This was my first purchase of a Night vision monocular , and i was wanting it for deer spotting in new zealand. I was very impressed with the quality and vision at night . Its also great to be able to turn off or on the IR illuminator indipendantly. For the money this is a real usefulkl tool , and ive no problem in spotting Deer at 200 yards and rabbits at 60 with the IR illuminator showing very bright eye shine , allowing you to pinpoint animals. I also put small piece of tape on back eye fucus to lock it so i only have to worrie about the front fucussing ring . Unit is also silent in operation. If you want better its going to cost a few 15 times the money.

Pros: Outstanding value for a gen 1 device
Cons: The design for the handhold is imperfect

I am greatly impressed by this night vision monocular. I have only tested it twice now, so my opinion is hardly conclusive, but so far it exceeds expectations. I think that the 300m advertised range is a bit optimistic, but you can see past 100m easy enough. Focusing is simple, but does require some fine-tuning adjustment between the eyepiece and the objective lens.
Passive mode is fine, and using the IR illumination is like using a spotlight - the eyes of animals will intensely reflect back at you. I use it for night hinting and the rabbit's eyes stick out like two little light bulbs out in the middle of the paddock.
The one criticism I have is that the position of the IR illuminator has not been particularly well thought out. When holding it normally, the IR beam gets blocked by your left hand when trying to adjust the objective lens for focus. You can get around this by rotating the monocular to a vertical position (or upside down), but then the grip is not as natural or comfortable. ...
