Sightmark Triple Duty Universal Bore Sight

by Berte, from United States, KY Written on December 31, 2014
This is a great tool to sight in your new scopes. I was within 3 inches of bulls eye center at 50 yards with my new scope on my Remington 30.06 and within 6 inches on a Marlin 35 caliber after installing my old Redfield 2-7 on the Marlin....
Pros:
  • Ease of use and accuracy
Cons:
  • none... yet

very disappointing!

by bargainhunter, from United States, PA Written on December 28, 2014
Purchased this at a very good price, however the laser dot at 20 yards was difficult to see on the target - and that was in cloudy\overcast weather. When the sun was directly on the target - forget it - you can't see the red dot at all! So am not sure how you could zero a rifle at 100 or even 50 yards! I guess you need to do this at night or use a powerful spotting scope! :( The other issue I had was that when I lined up the bore site with a Eotech I already zeroed, they did not match as I expected. I am going to try this on a rifle I haven't mounted a red dot on to see how well this actually works....
Pros:
  • Easy to install
Cons:
  • red dot not bright enough
  • Need to be careful not to move the magnetic base on muzzle
Best Used for:
  • white board presentation or driving the cat crazy

Poor quality

by mark case, from United States, AZ Written on December 25, 2014
If there was an option to give this thing zero stars I would have done it.
Switch was finicky, only worked sometimes and laser was so ridiculously
off it was funny. If you remove the laser and put it back on,it would be
in a different spot.Sent it back to optics planet for a full refund. Maybe
I got a lemon, but not wasting my time, money and bullets on another one....

The foundation for sighting-in any firearm...

by Bob L, from United States, NY Written on December 23, 2014
As a new shooter, I have found this device to be essential to my routine of sighting in any optic used on every one of my firearms. Attach it to your barrel, turn on the laser, and tune your optic to wherever the light is pointing. Then go waste some ammo fine-tuning. Done!!!

Just be (very) careful to remember that the bore sight is still attached to the firearm BEFORE you take your first shot!!! I am already on my second one of these.......
Pros:
  • Price, simple, effective
Cons:
  • on/off switch could have a positive feel
Best Used for:
  • sighting-in

Sightmark Triple Duty Universal Laser Bore Sight

by Joe, from United States, CT Written on December 22, 2014
Nice product. Wish they made the on off switch not so flimsy. You have to move it around to make sure it stays on when in use. To store it you should take the battery out, otherwise it may accidentally switch on in the case....
Pros:
  • easy to use.
Cons:
  • switch too flimsy

Cost Effective Solution

by Alan - ATL, from United States, GA Written on December 19, 2014
This seems to work very well. Had to replace the batteries but this was a re-furbished unit so I'm not surprised. Worked well on my Sig 556 but I have removed the flash hider. It will be interesting to see how it works on my SKS with the flash hider in place....
Pros:
  • cost
  • small size
Cons:
  • Battery retension is flimsy

Best and Easiest Bore Sight you can ever use.

by Big T, from United States, MO Written on December 8, 2014
I used this bore sight on my AR15 after missing a deer at 50 yards twice. After using this laser at 10 yards, I then went back to hunt and shot a dear at 100+ yards running. It was a head shot. Thanks Optics Planet for a fine piece of equipment.

I recommend this item for anyone. In fact I bought one for my son....
Pros:
  • reasonable price.
Cons:
  • nothing
Best Used for:
  • any rifle or pistol

Fast Zero in

by Fred, from United States, CT Written on November 23, 2014
A must for sighting pistols and rifles. I've used bullet round laser sighting and multi-caliber teardrop laser sighting. This beats them all. I checked sighting on three pistols and a new rifle scope zero in no time. Nice on/off switch. The self centering magnet attaching to the muzzle is genius. Just attach and sight! I chose the red laser, and it is bright. Note: I have only used it indoors so far, and plan an outdoors sighting soon. I expect this very bright laser to do just fine outdoors as well....
Pros:
  • Easy to use. Attach to muzzle and go!
Cons:
  • None

Good Laser bore sight, value for $.

by Sandman, from Australia, WESTERN AUSTRALIA Written on September 9, 2014
Works great. I have used mine on every thing from a S&W 357 Revolver to a .22 Bruno rifle.
Easy to use and saves time and ammo in setting up your optics.
Found that the magnet didn't hold on all that well in the bigger bore rifles due to either a weak magnet or not enough metal to attract too with the 30cals. But still works providing you keep the gun supported and don't make sharp moves or it will fall out of the barrel.
Go for it !!...
Pros:
  • Small and light weight
  • Gets the job done without the fuss.
Cons:
  • A little too light in construction
  • Magnet not very strong but is ok for the job at hand.
Best Used for:
  • smaller calibers like .22
