The
Vixen VMC200L Telescope with Vixen Sphinx Mount 2733 and Star Book is a
telescope package suitable for observation of all

types of
celestial stars. It benefits from a new, lighter-weight
optical tube with improved
anti reflection coatings, a metal carrying handle and a
7x50 finderscope. The
VMC200L Telescope by
Vixen is a unique design that employs a
meniscus corrector lens along with two high-precision
spherical mirrors to help eliminate
spherical aberration and yield a sharp image with no hint of false color. The
Vixen vmc 200L offers excellent performance for both visual and
astro-photography use. The open tube design eliminates the dew problem that is common with conventional
Schmidt Cassegrain Telescopes and its compact size makes it very easy to handle. The rack and pinion focuser accepts 2"
telescope eyepieces and accessories with an adapter.
The
VMC200L with Sphinx mount is a unique
catadioptric optical system. It incorporates a primary mirror and a meniscus corrector just before a secondary mirror. By doing so, light is corrected twice on the
telescope optical path.
The end result is that
spherical mirror aberration and field curvature are corrected to a high degree of
optical telescope performance. The
VMC200L 2633OTA 's primary mirror is f/2.5; the compound optical system is f/9.75. This makes the system much more compact
telescope and portable than its competition.
This
Vixen Telescope has the optical correction placed before the secondary mirror, the
VMC 200 L 200mm avoids the necessity of having a corrector plate and all the dewing problems associated with a closed optical tube.
