If you're looking for defensiveAmmo, MILI is definitely a brand to check out. Relatively new to the market, they're quickly building a reputation as top-quality shotshells manufactured in small batches to ensure consistent and reliable patterns and performance. You can read the MILI Ammo Product Reviews to see what customers like you are saying about it!image

Are MILI slugs rifled?

Yes, MILI Ammunition slugs are rifled and are therefore designed for use in smoothbore shotguns. This is what puts the spin on the projectile to give it accuracy. If you have a rifled shotgun barrel, then you should use sabot slugs, not rifled slugs. This might seem backward, but consider that rifle ammunition does not have any grooves (aka "rifling") on it because the rifling is in the barrel. Since a smoothbore has no rifling in the barrel, the grooves are on the slug instead.

Always check and understand all manufacturer's specifications before firing any ammunition in any firearm!

Where is MILI Custom Defense Ammunition?

MILI Custom Defense Ammunitions is based out of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina in the United States of America.

What is the difference between a slug and buckshot?

Slugs and buckshot both describe different kinds of Shotgun Ammo. A slug is a solid lead projectile that either comes in rifled varieties for smoothbores or sabot for rifled shotgun barrels. Rifled shotgun barrels are usually paired with scopes and are primarily used for big game hunting, like whitetail deer in the Eastern and Midwestern US.

Buckshot is a shotshell loaded with very large lead pellets called "shot" that are measured in "shot size." A 2-3/4 inch (shell length) 12 gauge shotgun shell loaded with 00 buckshot will usually have about 9 round pellets inside of it, each one measuring approximately 0.32 inches in diameter. That's like sending nine .30-caliber pellets out in a wide pattern all at once. We go more in-depth on slugs, buckshot, and birdshot in our Shotgun Ammo Guides.

What is the average MILI slug weight?

A 12-gauge MILI rifled shotgun slug in a 2-3/4 shell weighs 1 ounce. This is consistent with similar loads from other brands. MILI Ammunition Shotgun Ammo has manufactures slugs in both 12 gauge and 20 gauge.
