Got this to replace the Atlas R-One on my latest build. Super easy to swap out. No need for shims as the barrel nut doesn’t need to be timed. Handguard attachment is rock solid. Really pleased with this upgrade.
Really nice pistol brace. I got this for my 14.5 AR build because I haven’t pinned and welded a muzzle device to the less than 16” barrel, yet. I haven’t decided which muzzle device I want to permanently affix to the barrel. In the meantime it works although it is a bit loose on the buffer tube. It does look great though and it should keep me out of unnecessary trouble at the range. Those are the main things.
Got the 12.7 inch OD Green handguard to replace the Atlas S-One that came with my 14.7 inch pencil barrel M4E1 upper in black. So glad I decided to ditch my OCD and get the OD Green. It gives the gun a bit of flare. Like the full picatinny rail on top as opposed to the S-One handguard. Now I can install my rail light tape switch. The mounting system is easy to install and works very well. Very happy with this purchase.
I got the 14.7 inch pencil barrel upper. The barrel profile / length, and the M4E1 upper receiver with bolt assist are the main reasons I got this. Not a fan of the Atlas S-One handguard though. Funny thing, the handguard is where the quality control issue was. After opening the package I was inspecting the upper and noticed a rather large gap between the Picatinny rail on the upper receiver and the Picatinny rail on the handguard. I looked at the handguard attachment and noticed one of the taper lock nuts was slightly crooked and there was a tiny silver burr sticking out next to it. I tried removing the taper lock but the opposite taper lock nut was wedged up against the barrel nut. I had to use a punch and an armorers hammer to pop it out and remove the handguard. I noticed the barrel nut was scored and the tiny burr on the handguard had fallen off. I wiped everything down, and put the handguard back on. The taper lock went on straight so I think the burr caused the issue. Maybe the handguard was dinged right before assembly. I don't know but now I got a slightly dented taper lock nut and a small bare aluminum gouge mark were the burr was. Oh well, it is solid on the barrel nut and the alignment is now good. Before I was only thinking about swapping out the handguard, but now I am definitely going to change it. Maybe I'll go with the Atlas R-One (when they are back in stock) or something from Midwest Industries. Maybe I'll splurge and get a Geissele handguard.
Why I didn’t get this grip earlier I don’t exactly know. This grip completely changes the handling of my gun for the better. I guess was kinda skeptical of it, thinking it was gimmicky but my mind has been changed. Very glad I gave it a chance.
This B5 Systems SOPMOD adjustable stock has the most rock solid lockup of any stock that I’ve now used and owned. I will say it is weighty but no more than the Magpul STR adjustable stock I had on my gun prior to buying this. The one thing that beats out the STR is the lockup of the B5 stock on the buffer tube. There is literally no movement or wiggle and yet it slides on to the Aero Precision Enhanced Carbine Buffer Tube easily. The storage capability is pretty cool.
I got this on a whim. I had the BCM Mod 3 vertical grip which is great but I figured I’d match the fore grip to my B5 Systems Type 23 just because. This B5 fore grip takes the texture of the BCM Mod 3 up a few notches. It also narrows at the point where the grip meets the rail which actually feels really nice. It is a tad bit shorter than the BCM Mod 3 but not by much. The angle of the grip is nice. So far I really like it. It matches my pistol grip and it’s texture feels aggressive without being painful.
I have been looking for a new steeper angled grip to replace the Magpul MOE grip that came with my Aero Precision lower parts kit that I got at an extreme discounted price. I first tried the BCM Mod 3 but found it didn’t want to work well with my AP M4E1 lower. So I searched harder and got the B5 Systems Type 23 and this beauty from Reptilia. I knew about Reptilia grips but wasn’t impressed with the short stubby grip I saw on a couple SBRs. Then I stumbled on this longer version and decided to give it a try. Boy I am very glad I did. I like the B5 grip but this CQG-L is my favorite. It has a certain style about it that I like a lot. Also I have wonky hands that are in between a small and a medium. Too wide for small gloves with stubby fingers that are a tad too short to fit my medium gloves. Add arthritis from my years in the military on top and you got a “hard to shop for” issue. This longer Reptilia grip is a perfect fit for me. Long enough for my wide hands and thick enough to relieve some of the aches and pains I used to get from the thinner A2 grip. The angle is around 13 degrees from my best guess (compared it next to the B5 which is advertised as 13 degrees). Texturing is very minimal but I can still get a secure purchase on it without the grip tape feel. I think I found my new favorite grip.
