A high quality and flexible tactical and utility flashlight

Written on Nov 18, 2016

I have several "tactical" flashlights and while the light form all of them is good the practical use in a tactical or defensive situation hasn't always been great. The XT11S really seems to git the bill and for the price seems a great value. I like the "syringe" technique when using a flashlight with a defensive handgun and the finger ring just above the clip works very well allowing a positive grip and easy activation of the button light switch. The rear lever mode selection work well, is quick and easy to change brightness and mode (strobe) and provide a degree of protection for the rear activation push button activation switch, which is a problem with many lights. As some lights can easily be turned on accidentally when the light is in a pouch or pocket. The protection around the rear button, while not totally eliminating this, does greatly reduce the change of inadvertently turning on the light and running the battery down. Another really nice feature is the on/off/mode button on the light body, in a normal position for most flashlights. When using the flashlight just as a flashlight the front switch falls easily to hand and is very convenient to use. You can change modes by a pick push of the button or hold the button down for 5 seconds to turn the light off. The light patters in very good and on high very strong. All in all I think this light works as well as other I have that cost a great deal more and is a very good value for the money.

CDS 3-Gun Scope

Written on Oct 04, 2016

I've been looking for a good scope for the tach-optics division in 3-Gun and this seems to fit the bill. A true one power works almost as well as a holographic red-dot, quick to acquire target, both eyes open, large eye relief so it's quick on the target. I wasn't sure about the CDS reticle but have grown to love it. It makes for quick combat accurate shots which are perfect for 3-Gun and, well it's a Leupold Gold Ring, so the optics are very very good. I've always liked the Leupold life time warranty, even though I've only had to use it once on a much older hunting scope. I'm not totally convenience that the FireDot Illumination really helps, certainly in daylight it's of little use to me, maybe at dusk or if I was shooting on a course with some dark backgrounds it would be more helpful, but in the Southwest, where I live, I haven't seen a lot of advantage. Still it works as advertised and may prove helpful in situations I just haven't encountered yet. The zoom range is perfect for close shots typical of 3-Gun yet powerful enough for even my ageing eyes to find the target out to 400 yards or so.

All in all a very good scope.

IMS Mount - the quality you'd expect from Leupold

Written on Oct 02, 2016

Setting up a new AR for 3-Gun and w Leupold VX-6 scope I wanted a solid reliable sturdy mount that din't weight more then it needs to. This is my 3rd IMS Mount and every one has lived up the the Leupold reputation for quality, dependability and ease of use. If you want a scope mount that you can rely upon I strongly recommend the IMS AR mount.
