Johnny Utah's Review of Haley Strategic Partners INCOG Discreet Rifle Bag, 10x31x3in

Having owned and used a variety of discreet rifle bags over the years from Tactical Tailor, Haley Strategic, Blue Force Gear, Maxpedition, Vertx, LaRue Tactical, Emdom Gear and many others I have had a good chance to compare and contrast how each bag's strengths and weaknesses. As HSP has marketed this bag, it's perfect as a discreet bag (provided its in an urban setting with most aren't familiar with our community).

A perfect example of this bag doing its job was when I brought over my pistol to show a friend at his friend's house. It so happened as I set the bag down, his friend's girlfriend mistook the bag for a tennis racquet bag. Other people that saw either assumed it to be a gym bag, hipster computer bag or anything other than relating to firearms. I kept it as I received it with no morale patches or any addons whatsoever. If you were to add any morale patches I would say something like a Nike or Adidas patch wouldn't hurt.

I have the regular size INCOG bag and other than the obvious shorter dimensions, the only thing internally that sets it apart is it lacking a second velcro PALS panel. The internal zipper compartment seems identical in size to the one on the regular size INCOG bag, its location however is to the edge of the bag since it's practically 1/3 smaller. My only grip is that due to the design, the top carry handle is sewn to the quick-access flap, so if you have the bag loaded up, it will put stress on the zipper. If you just have AR or AK pistol and a chest rig you should be fine. Just don't go loading up tons of magazines and expect it to be comfortable lugging around.

The one additional feature it has versus the regular size INCOG bag is a exterior zipper compartment located at the edge of the bag. This is handy for storing extra paper targets or a set of spare ear plugs, misc accessories, etc. The stitching like HSP's chest rigs is solid. For non-MIL/LE flavors, HSP and Vertx are my current favorites. Sterile appearance on the exterior, yet internally offer PALS and other organizational features.
