Upon impact, the polymer tip of this .277in 270 caliber projectile initiates controlled expansion and initiates a large wound channel that guarantees a clean, one-shot kill. The sleek polymer tip also initiates controlled expansion and gives the SST its famous controlled expansion upon impact. Initiating expansion upon impact causes the InterLock ring to hold the core and jacket solid during expansion which ensures the core and jacket remain locked solid during expansion so the SST retains the mass and energy needed for dramatic wound channels.
