You can use a crush washer instead of a shim kit, but either way, you will need one or the other to properly time the device.

Do not use a crush washer if you plan on using it with a suppressor. Increases the chance of having a baffle strike due to crush washers potentially not crushing concentric. Even slight misalignment in the device is expounded by the end of the suppressor, potentially causing a strike.
