I live out west where we have views in excess of 1000 yards. I will tell you this scope is best inside 230 yards. Past that and things are blurry, edges are not crisp and you'll have trouble telling a mule deer from an antelope, a fox from a badger, etc. You'll see something, but you won't be able to tell what it is past 250. If you want something that will get you to 400+ yards you need to spend $6k-10k.
