Can I shot with this using a 30 round .556 mag or is it too short?

It would be a little too short for that. I would suggest the medium high or high rear bag.

It depends on what you are shooting off of and what kind of bipod. However, when I'm shooting off a bench I tend to do better using the Caldwell DeadShot Shooting Rest Bags compared to using my bipod.
