Are they detent retention or just held up by a spring?

These sights do not have a spring. They are held up by a metal detent.

Do u need tools to adjust these buis? When changing aperture sight can it be folded down if it's on small or large aperture?

You need a front sight tool to adjust the elevation. It can be folded with either aperture being used.

How are these compared to magpuls mbus pro buis? Are these diamond head just as low profile as the mbus?

I have MBUS pros on my 16” and these on my 8.5” 300BLK... the magpuls are lower profile but the 2 sets of sights serve very different purposes. For CQB, the ghost ring is perfect

Just to make sure , the sights are “same plane” , flat top , continues rail type. Not gas block

Yes, these sights are same-plane, they should line up when mounted on a level rail.
