Do 6.8 SPC and 5.56, share the same lower receivers? Also, what is the ballistic difference?

6.8 SPC and 5.56 both use small frame AR lowers. The ballistic difference depends on a few factors but comparing the Hornady 5.56 55gr CX bullet with a .270 BC to the Hornady 6.8 SPC 100gr CX bullet with a .262 BC, the 5.56 has a velocity of 2781fps and energy of 944 ft/lb at 100 yards while the 6.8 SPC has a velocity of 2227fps and energy of 1102 ft/lb at 100 yards.
