Do you need saddle bag brackets to use these?

No, it comes with 2 adjustable Velcro straps to go over the seat, 4 clip straps on the back and 2 on the front of the bags to tie them down to the frame, subframe, foot peg brackets or where ever. I would also recommend buying some felt or cotten padding from Wal-Mart or a crafts stores. It provides a protective layer over any fairings, metal or chrome. Place it down or custom fit it to go under the seat without blocking the compartment, before placing the bags on the bike though... to prevent any scratches or dings from the bags moving and bouncing around, especially when they have heavy cargo. And dont put any more then 30 to 0 pounds in each one at a time. You'll rip the stitching or mess up the zippers.
