You will have an easier time if you use one of the single-piece 'cantilever' mounts that are made for AR type rifles. Several popular options are Burris P.E.P.R., Vortex, Nikon M-223. If you have the budget, LaRue, Sphur, and Bobro have very good reputations for their mounts. I went with an Aero Precision mount because I was looking for a light weight mount for use on a dedicated 22LR
