It is battery powered using 10 AA batteries for a 15V output. The battery pack is 5 AA batteries on one side and 5 on the other. Another separate AA battery is needed for the clock making a total of 11 batteries. Batteries are not charged; they have to be manually replaced. Unknown how many feeding cycles you'll get. I'm using 10 - 1.2V rechargeable batteries and it's worked well through 2 days.
