Cameras and spotting scopes are remarkably different optical systems, and would have a considerably different user experience when used in low-light scenarios. As a digital camera could and would enhance colors and lighting on-screen, and use delayed or extended exposures to allow for enhanced low-light imagery, this would be a difficult comparison. That question has no real answer. Technically if you were on a flat plain of land that was 100 miles long you could see the entire 100 miles. How far you can clearly see something is going to depend on the terrain, the target, the weather conditions, your eyesight and a number of other factors depending on what your application is. You could be trying to see bullet holes at 300 yards or you could be trying to see cruise ships sailing by at sea 10 miles away. What I can say is for the money this is a very good spotting scope manufactured by an extremely reputable company that is capable of allowing you to see details out to hundreds of yards depending on the size of the target.
