High quality drop in solution

Written on May 31, 2017

Received my Elftmann trigger and installed it into a mil-spec lower receiver. Have not run into any issues thus far with the trigger in my lower and have not experienced any backing out of screws/pins or other issues. The trigger is extremely crisp on the break and has little to no take up or over travel. The machining is very well done, although one of my only gripes would be that the trigger has some sharp edges, but that's really just a personal issue as many people will appreciate the harder edges of the trigger. The drop-in was easy and all the parts appear to be made to good tolerances with very high quality materials. This trigger is right up there with some of the other high quality triggers I have tried like Geissele, Knights and Timney. If I needed another trigger for an AR, which I definitely don't, I would not hesitate to look at Elftmann as an option.

One of the best sub $300

Written on Nov 18, 2016

I own a few Vortex products and have never been disappointed, so when I needed a new binocular Vortex was my go to company. I’m not a huge loyalist when it comes to brands because with how the market is now I know there are plenty of companies offering quality products at affordable prices, but Vortex has been good to me so I decided to give these a shot and I was not disappointed. I had a chance to use and play with the previous set of Diamondbacks and loved them, but didn’t need a new binocular at the time. So I knew I could hopefully expect the same performance out of this bino and I was not mistaken. The new optical system does definitely provide a slight improvement over the previous model. The clarity from edge to edge was a touch better and the colors seemed brighter as well which is a great thing for everything from general outdoors activities to watching sports.

Aside from the glass which had been improved the new chassis of the bino is a little sleeker and instead of the polycarbonate housing they changed it over to a magnesium housing. That may be an issue for some, but it saved a few ounces off the weight which I feel is a bigger plus side. Overall this binocular is a definite improvement over the previous models. It is well worth the price especially considering that it is Vortex which means that if by some chance this binocular falls victim to my clumsiness, Vortex will take care of me.

Good riflescope at a great price

Written on Sep 16, 2016

This riflescope is a great value. The magnification is true from 3x all the way through to 9x and the glass is clear at all magnifications. The magnification adjustment is smooth with a little bit of stiffness so it won’t easily get moved from where it is. The adjustable eyepiece makes for focusing at different magnifications fairly easy and the 3.5” eye relief is plenty for most purposes. The low capped turrets are great for a hunting rifle and are very tactile and the adjustments feel very positive. The scope tube is a single piece of 6061 aluminum, which is lightweight but still very durable. Overall for the price point this is a great little riflescope to meet most needs.
