The Night Vision does not work through glass. The glass will reflect the IR light signal.

do these give off any visible light

The X-Vision Hands Free Deluxe Digital Night Vision Binoculars have an IR Illuminator. So it will not give off visible light.

Can I walk/hike with these on, or does 3x make this virtually impossible?

You could use the X-Vision Hands Free Night Vision Deluxe Binoculars while walking but yes the magnification would make it difficult.
