Angela's Review of Advantage Arms Glock 17-22 Gen 3, 9mm/.40SW, 15 Round Pistol Magazine & Conversion Kit

I purchased the Advantage Arms .22 LR conversion kit for the purpose of using it in my SBR Roni to save some money on ammo. I assumed that since it’s a direct replacement slide that it would have the same dimensions as the G17 slide (my mistake for assuming). It doesn’t. The AA conversion slide is wider & my plastic Roni cocker won’t fit on it. Thereby, it doesn’t serve me for that purpose.

However, using it as a G17 .22 pistol has been a blast though. Sure I still get failures or malfunctions from time to time despite using 40 gn Aguila, but my reaction & motor skills in correcting a problem has improved. In addition, since I can shoot more (cheaply), my accuracy has also improved even when I switch back to 9mm ammo.

The kit is surprisingly well made & robust. The metal slide felt better in my hand than the G44’s slide made of polymer. It serves as a more realistic training tool for me since I’m operating my existing frame.

The 2 15rd mags are a welcome accessory better than the 10s. Of course, I’d be lying if I didn’t wish it were 20rds or more like the Sig P322. Just saying.

Next, the threaded barrel allows me to employ my existing suppressor. It makes the less obnoxious .22 even more pleasant to play with.

The slide thankfully came optic ready. It will be my first slide to have a red dot since all of my pistols are Gen 1s (1980’s), except for my G17/3.

It’s an awesome tool/toy overall and have recommended it. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it isn’t dimensionally exact as the slide it’s replacing. I like it so much that I plan on getting one for my G19 Gen 1.
