Expert Review Chassis made easy - American Built Arms Company MOD-X Modular Rifle System Howa

Not only is this a quality rifle chassis but installation is unbelievably simple. Converts a blind box mag Howa 1500 to a modular chassis gun that uses AICS magazines.

Ordered a Howa barreled action from Br*wnells. Ordered this kit and some AICS magazines. 15min later I had a ready to go rifle.

Installation is so easy, everything fits together tab and slot style. Simply remove the two screws in the action holding the box mag assembly together and set all that aside.

Drop the action in the main chassis and bolt down. Torque to 65in pounds.
Slide Handguard onto main frame, bolt down. Torque to 55in pounds.
Slide scope rail tab into handguard and bolt down. 35in pounds on action screws (may need to remove brass screws from action) and 55in pounds on rail to handguard screw.

Install the stock and you are done (thread buffer tube and tighten set screw).

Screws come coated so no need for loctite. Stock design is is lightweight but highly functional.

3 pound 10oz chassis in under 20min, not sure how you can beat that.

"then why only 4 stars?" because there is always room for improvement.

No buttpad/recoil paid included which isn't a big deal but would've been a nice touch.
There is a 20MOA rail for the Rem 700 models but not for the Howa (yet...?).
Not the biggest KeyMod fan so an MLOK version would have been nice but appears to have MLOK slots at 45deg

Overall very happy with this product.
