Too low to co-witness - Bushnell First Strike Illuminated Red Dot Sight

This optic doesn't come with a riser, so it's too low to use on an AR-15 if you're going to co-witness with iron sights. There is a simple solution though ... buy a 1/2 inch riser. See item number YHM-WS-YHM-234 on this site. Also, the automatic on/off function can be good and bad. If you're in low light, the dot won't come on, or it's really, really dim if it does come on. Still, it's nice not to have to turn it on and off, and it works really well in average to bright light. Overall it's a really good red dot optic for the price. I put my First Strike on a 300 blackout AR, and with the 1/2 inch riser it works great. I would recommend this optic to a friend for a CQB rifle.

Pros: light-weight, small, easy to co-witness with iron sights, inexpensive, don't have to remember to turn it off.

Cons: 1/2 inch riser not included, doesn't work in low light.
