Legacy Reviewer's Review of Eberlestock Phantom 42.6L Backpack

A backpack with a rifle case built in? I never knew one existed until I saw this. What really sold me was the description and video (at the bottom of the page) at Eberlestock's product page: http://eberlestock.com/Phantom%20Backpack.htm

It's super versatile especially with the removable backscabbard, and even if you leave it there. If you're not storing a rifle, just tuck the bottom of the backscabbard in and it looks like a backpack. I can stuff more into this pack than it appears to be able to fit. All the little pouches inside and out really helps to organize. The PALS webbing can be useful even if you don't have extra pouches to mount onto them. Clip a flashlight, radio, pocket knife....

With a full load you'd think this would be crazy uncomfortable. But it actually feels great with the shaped padding on the back of the backscabbard which pads around your spine, and the thick pad that rests at the small of your back. It makes you think, "I really have all this weight on me?"

Despite how my review sounds so far, I don't work for OpticsPlanet or Eberlestock, or any company that would gain by selling more of these.

I can gush on but I'll stop now. If I REAAALLLLYYYY had to nitpick, I'd request that they add a padded compartment (perhaps removeable?) for a laptop, and make the main compartment expandable for a bigger load. The first really isn't necessary--one can purchase a separate laptop sleeve and stuff it in there--and the second would add even more value (I know, I'm greedy) but Eberlestock does offer several different packs with more storage and a backscabbard. Again, I'm nitpicking; there's always room for improvement, right?!
