Legacy Reviewer's Review of LaserLyte Carbine Green Laser System K-15

This laser is a conundrum. Its a green laser which is good but the laser lacks power. I mounted it on my SOCOM for home defense, outside and inside the house. It went on easy, two bolts then tighten. I torqued to about 15"lbs. Zero was easy. I turned on my EoTech and then co-witness the green dot with the red dot of my EoTech. The adjustment screws are not solid, the supplied wrench does not fit well so I had to use a better quality. The adj screw opening seems to be slightly smaller than required wench size for adjustment. Even with my good allen wrench, my wrench does not release from the screws with ease. I mounted the K15 on the right side rail, laser up to be close to the bore. Day one was a failure to zero but it was dead on after the second range day. At the range for final zero day 2, the green dot is slightly proud right of my EoTech dot at 25 yards now, like a 1/4 dot or two clicks I think. This way, I can lase center mass from 25 yards out to 75 yards, at 75 yards the green dot is just proud left of my EoTech dot. Once again, the screw was difficult to adjust in the field. But now that I have the zero I want, so far after a couple hundred rounds down range and beating in the rig, its has stayed on zero. The adj caps are small and I can see losing one with ease in the field if ever having to remove one. The beam is low power. First day out I had a very hard time seeing the beam to zero using white copy paper as a target in mid day bright sunlight. The beam was only visible to about 15 yards on the white paper. At 25 yards the beam was totally washed out by the sun. Range day two I had better luck. Early morning and a trick I tried was to turn the target away from direct sun light so the white paper was shaded from the sun by the cardboard backing. I then placed the whole target stand in shade. Now around 11am I could see the green beam, albeit very hard out to 50 yards to get my final zero. The remote switch seats solid in the unit, the switch itself works good even with gloves on. At 11pm once night, I took my SOCOM to the back deck and lased up the night. The beam lased out well over 100 yards. Just for info, neighbors not so good seeing a green beam swinging around at 11pm. Local PD either but they got a laugh. But, it is about what I expected and it does what I want for home defense of house and yard but again to me its quite expensive. Paring it with a Streamlight TLR-1S HP, grab the SOCOM and I can light up the night and lase a target, man or beast out to and past 100 yards on my property.
Pros: Laser, green, accurate
Cons: Low power, high price, difficlute to zero
