Wheaton Vials feature a precision-designed, annealed, wood-bore type mold that produces an extremely consistent, close-flowing viscous fluid in a controlled manner. Vials are manufactured from a highly polished mold to produce an extremely smooth outer surface. The higher the threads, the greater the degree of difficulty in plugging and plugging the vial. For this reason, it is often difficult to break or even remove a plug from a vial. However, it is possible to overtorque a vial by hand to a pre-set torque. Many autoclaved vials have an extra thin collar in the neck that permits venting under pressure. Unlike many steel vials, these glass vials have a uniform wall thickness that ensures a smooth, even flow in the vial neck. To accelerate the plugging process, a thief-longer neck is desirable. Wheaton Vials feature a true double-wall design with a wide mouth design. The thicker, rounder, and slightly wider (8 mm) base contributes to the general roundness of the vial neck.
