This piece wore out in 200 rounds of basic training ammo. The rubber does make a noticeable difference when shooting in how the recoil feels softer. Could just be my pistol that recoils a little too hard. Good idea though.

The Wilson Combat shok - buffers are a little expensive for a little peace of palamer plastic but if you're cracking pretty hot loads they will keep the slide from battering your frame and possibly causing serious damage to your pistol.

The Shok-Buff 1911 Recoil Buffer prevents the slide from battering the frame during recoil by sandwiching a 1/10" thick poly fiber buffer between the slide and frame contact areas.
