Solid, well made. Would definitely rely on it in a emergency. The only issue I had was that the pen mechanism got stuck from time to time - almost as though there were a small burr sticking on something. As I used it more, this became less frequent.

Solid, a bit heavy, smooth to click, great pocket clip, uses Fisher Space refill which are easy to get and work well. While the pen may look a little bulky in photos, I've had no trouble flying commercial with it.

The Gerber Impromptu Pen is a machined aluminum push-button style writing pen. The Gerber Impromptu Tactical Pen also includes a hardened glass breaker embedded in the pen's tip which can shatter windshields in emergency situations. Any police officer will tell you that, when attacked unexpectedly, the most useful weapon is whatever object happens to be in your hand. Quite often that object is a pen. The Gerber Tactical Pen comes with a "Rite in the Rain" ballpoint pen cartridge.image
