A standard graduation ring is marked on each glass stopper to facilitate marking and sample identification. The stoppers are Ames designed for single-use. The Ames stopper, which has a narrow mouth with a wide mouth leading to a large sample space, is also well ventilated to minimize contamination of sample. Compared to a standard USP Class A ground glass stopper, the Ames stopper has a slightly raised crown and a large mouth which permits easier sampling with a smooth flow. The Ames stopper is easily removed for sampling from a collection bottle. The stopper is easily operated, yet is securely retained in the stopper by a rubber O-ring. A magnet is placed on the stopper to allow for hanging with the stopper on. A brass bail at the bottom of the bottle removes for sampling when the bottle is removed. The Ames stopper assures of a clean sample return and assures sample induction. The bottle is freestanding with a simple, sturdy bail to allow for hanging. There are graduations on both sides of the stopper to facilitate sampling. The stopper, which is not included in the product, is highly polished for smoothness and easily removed for cleaning. An aluminum insert with graduations has also been placed into the stopper. Highly polished mouth with flat bottom and large metal bail provide even further wettability.
