Agitator base assembly for borohydride chillers is designed to arrest the flow of liquid under cooling tower conditions. The top of the hood is formed by a folded membrane which forces liquid to fill the bulb until it meets the side wall. As the liquid level in the bulb decreases, the open area of the membrane increases to allow liquid to freely flow to the side wall. The reduced liquid level in the bulb causes the open area of the membrane to shrink, forming a tight seal with the growing liquid level. This feature tends to solve the problem of liquid level in the bulb getting lost to the outside with each change in the process. Useful for dosing before and after chilling. Overall, the design makes the hood excellent for use in the incubation and sampling stages of the distillation procedure. The hood should always be installed after the diaphragm is folded down, since the diaphragm cannot be removed without interfering with the inlet side of the bottle. Any liquid level in the bulb chamber must be supported at the top of the bulb. If the bulb is removed, the liquid level in the bulb will be contained in a bulb with a spout which can be operated. If the bulb is removed, the diaphragm may be trapped inside the spout or if the inlet is pinched closed.
