Heavy Duty Pants

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, NC Written on August 24, 2013
I ordered these & the 5.11 Stryke w/flextac pants. Since 5.11 does a bad job at clearly defining the differences in their pants, I will compare the two. I thought the taclite pants would be thin material that would be good for warm weather and the Stryke pants would be thicker for colder weather. The reverse is actually the case. The Stryke material is much thinner (and seemed to be lighter than the Taclite). The Taclite material doesn't stretch much. The Stryke w/flextac pants are slightly tighter on top of the thighs, but the material stretches quite a bit when squatting. I am a big guy (5'10" and 270 pounds) and I usually wear a 42-44 waist pant so I got the 44" 5.11 pants. With exceptions noted above for the Stryke, both pants fit well (not too tight nor too baggy), especially when squatting, kneeling, etc. Both pants have stretch waist bands (the elastic is concealed under the belt loops). Both pants have rip-stop fabric which seems to be strong, and the seams are heavy double-stitched. The waist to crotch distance could be a little longer (especially in the back) to prevent "plumbering" someone behind you when crouching. If you are thin build, this might not be an issue. The pants are expensive, but overall seem to be good quality, I would order again (but sparingly).
Pros: tough material, stretch waistband
Cons: price, thick (warm) material...

5.11 Taclite Pro pants

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, WA Written on July 18, 2013
Loved Jungle pants and BDU's when I was in Army. Now that I am 62, retired and active, I wanted pants that were tough, functional, and great looking. These are it! I expect to get many years out of these and plan on buying another pair soon.
Pros: Pockets, Design, Durability
Cons: Getting used to paying the price for superior pants...

5.11 Tactical review

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AZ Written on July 8, 2013
I use these pants for energy audits crawling through attics and homes. The pants maintain their shape (unlike Woolrich pants in which the knees and pockets start to sag). The sizing was perfect.
Pros: Sizing perfect. Very durable. Looks good.
Cons: Could use a cell phone pocket....
