I looked at many different scopes and all were name brands at cabelas, fleetfarm and runnings. The Barska swat extreme is everything i wanted in a long range rifle scope. This scope is the best deal for the money. Built very well..

This scope is well worth the price paid. I put it on a 308 and was zeroed in 4 shots. i dialed in the shot at 200 yards and 3 shot group would fit in a dime. The side parallax adjustment is easy to use but may take some getting used to if your not used to having that feature. the scope brings in a lot of light especially if you remove the sunshade. Other reviewers say it clouds over at higher power but take off the sun shade and that issue goes away. It tracks accurately when dialing in a shot. I like this scope and it is the second one i have bought in the swat series. I would recomend this to anybody that wants a good scope. Are you going to shoot 1000 yard F class with this scope? NO. You can shoot 1000 yard shots with it.

Definitely surprised me with the optics and features you get for the money. I currently wanted the features of a $1500-2000 scope but would end up having to wait for that much longer. This scope will get me out to the longest of ranges in a quick fashion. Keep in mind that 1/8 clicks will take longer to adjust for shots but you'll have additional precision without having to hold over as much. As others have stated , the included rings do the job but I'm going to update with a lower height set of rings that are a bit beefier.
Pros: Lots of features for the money, clear optics, parallax adjustment
Cons: best out 100 yds and further due to initial magnification.

To precision shoot a 12" target at 500 yards you need clear glass at least to 35-40 power. This scope clouds over greater than 25-30. Clicks are mushy. Mounting the scope with rings other that the high mount,low quality Barska mounts that come with it gave me problems with full windage and elevation adjustment.
Cons: Glass clouds over 25-30;

I mounted this scope on a .338 Lapua Magnum rifle and it performed flawlessly. It was very easy to boresight and range adjustments were smooth. The range of magnification (10-40x) exceeded expectations and parallax adjustments allowed a tight grouping of all shots. The scope is a sturdy piece of excellent engineering.
Pros: Ease of installation, accurate, smooth operation

Two years ago I bought this scope and after a couple weeks of shooting the parallax adjustment broke. The scope repeatedly made incorrect windage adjustments and eventually the elevation turret broke. Barska was nice enough to send me the newest SWAT 10-40x50mm as a replacement but the new scope only has 8 inches of elevation/windage adjustments which is not enough for "long range" shooting. Very disappointed.
Pros: Illuminated Recticle, Large Objective Lens
Cons: Overall Poor construction, Click Adjustments are inaccurate

I have a Barska spotting scope so I'm familiar with this brand. Good price, low quality. The 10-40x50 scope was broken out of the box. The elevation turret could not adjust as if something was stripped inside. It was not the knob zero adjust also, I know what I am doing. Very disappointed. I returned and ordered the Osprey like I should have in the first place. Stay away. Quality Control at the Barska plant is poor to allow a new item to ship as this.
Pros: lots of features, 40x optics
Cons: broken out of the box from the factory :(

I shoot to 300 yrds with my .17 HMR, Max range for the round, and after more than 1500 rounds it is still reliable and accurate. High Zoom is GREAT for varmint at 150 - 300 yrds. Mil-Dot reticle, I cant stress enough, learn how to use it and it will not dissapoint, from trajectory to windage, you will be able to think your shot through, and accurately place it using the Mil-Dot. Also, the Illumination makes shooting in lower light a breeze. Side Parallax is awesome, no funky reaching around like on an AO scope, a lot easier to maintain sight to target alignment. The ranges on the knob arent quite right but with practice it works out in the end. At 30-40x zoom the scope appears to fuzz out a little, but its still manageable. To be honest, this scope is missing a few high end refinements, but I dont think I could have spent my money better. As far as rings go I didnt even look at the ones that came with it, right off the bat I used Burris 420162.
Pros: Side parallax, 40x zoom, Illuminated Reticle
Cons: Dim for 50mm Objective, Anything above 30x is slightly fuzzy
