Excellent AR scope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, TN Written on February 14, 2014
Great mid level AR scope. Only improvement would be if it had an auto off function. Number of reticle illumination choices,10, is great. Off setting between each one is awesome.
Pros: Reticle, mag range, price
Cons: No auto off ...

MTAC 1-4x and PEPR Mount

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, MI Written on August 6, 2013
Excellent value for the money, good clear glass, quick for CQB. Leveling the reticle was a bit of a challenge but that is not the MTACs fault. Illuminated reticle is daylight bright and clear, also very easy to use.
Pros: Outstanding value, Great glass, good illumination
Cons: None so far...

Great Combo

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, CA Written on May 8, 2013
A very nice scope and mount for an AR-15. Very clear, and the CQ reticule is nice. Some reviewers of this scope have stated that the dot is too large, but in that circumstance you can adjust the point of impact down to the next lower (smaller) dot. I like it a lot.
Pros: Clear, Fast, Illumination, QD Base
Cons: None...

Burris MTAC Ballistic CQ 1-4x24 Riflescope

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, FL Written on April 30, 2013
Very nice scope for the money. Looks good on the gun and performs well. A con is the Power ring is very tight and even at the highest brightness setting the illuminated Reticle is dim in bright light. However, being able to see the black reticle with the power off is a great feature. I also like being able to turn reticle off between brightness settings so you can return to your last setting quickly.
Pros: Very Good Scope for the Value
Cons: Power ring is very tight and even at the highest brightness setting the illuminated...

great scope great price

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, FL Written on February 21, 2013
I have a trijicon ACOG on one AR but didn't want to break the bank on AR number two so I researched $400 dollar range scopes and decided on this MTAC. My main concern was repeatability and was willing to compromise on glass optical quality. This scope beats expectations on optical clarity and repeatability. Believe it or not the clarity matches my Leupold MK4 and Schmidt and Bender scopes. Custom bullet drop reticle is awsome for long ranges and when you have scope power set to 1x the reticle can be used like an eotech style both eyes open sight. Its size is a bit larger than ACOG but you do get 1 thru 4 zoom power and for 1/3 the price of ACOG. Great scope great price.
Pros: excellent optics, holds zero
Cons: maybe size...

So far, so good

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on January 29, 2013
I have had this scope only a short time and I have only shot it out to 200 yards. I'm no expert in either shooting or scopes. I just know what looks good to me. I compared this scope to the Leupold 1-4x24 with the illuminated dot reticle. My eyes aren't the greatest so I could not perceive any difference between the lenses in the two scopes. This isn't to say there is no difference, just that I couldn't see it. As for the reticles, I like the MTAC reticle better. Plus, the price was in the range I wanted to spend. The scope was practically sighted in when I received in, it took me about four shots to get it zeroed. I did one experiment with the adjustment knobs, moved them about 4 clicks right and 4 clicks down. There was a definite change in the point of impact at 50 yards, rounds were hitting in the bottom right corner of the target just as one would expect. The same number of clicks up and left and I was back centered. I really like the illuminated reticle so far, just hope it continues to work. I use it when it starts to dim. The illuminated reticle gets washed out in very bright sunlight but I wouldn't use it then anyway. I used the illuminated reticle under a cover at the range on an overcast day and the mid-point setting was all I needed. I also like that the illumination turns off after each on setting, no need to complete a full rotation of the dial to turn the unit off. The MTAC is very easy to shoot both eyes open on the 1x and 2x settings, but I cou...

Perfect combo

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from United States, AL Written on January 19, 2013
Burris combo has excellent eye relief, you can actually keep both eyes open at 1 power. The illuminated reticle works great with 9 different settings I believe and with a light, the un-lit black reticle works perfect with a weapon light.
Pros: Perfect setup for a 5.56x45 AR.
Cons: None...

Very good product, red-dot was a little anti-climatic

by Legacy Reviewer, from United States, FL Written on January 4, 2013
I actually bought this product from another site but this one will get more attention. The scope is of solid construction, the mount is a very good mount. The reticle in the scope isn't my favorite, but for close range (200y or less) it will do just fine; Any further than that and I think the reticle will just be too big and get in the way. The illuminated reticle is really nice however the higher power illumination (8-10 setting) starts to create a slight reflection inside the scope itself and you start to lose the crisp edge of the reticle.

The red dot left much to be desired. It's really high above the rifle and when I shouldered the rifle, I had to move around until I 'found' the dot. The dot is a sharp and very small (like quite literally 1-3 pixels in size) but the lens of the red dot is so small, it's not easy to find the right angle in order to see the dot however I think this is just due to the lens being so small and it being much higher than your natural line of sight. I opted to use another red-dot site I had instead.

I put this on a Stag Arms AR-15 and I did *not* need any sort of riser. You can barely see a small black smudge in the very bottom when looking through the scope at a low zoom, but the scope just zooms right past the front site. Overall I would recommend this combo but prepare yourself for possibly need to buy another red-dot for this one did not work for me. I could see the red-dot being really good for a handgun though.
Pros: Very good produc...
