Review from NZ (Bushnell 8x42 Legend Ultra HD Binoculars)
I spent a great deal of time trying to decide between several different brands and specifications. The main thing that sold me with these bino's was the low price (compared with other similar quality brands) and the high specification such as ED glass and rain-guard. I think most people would be str...

Returning to Bushnell
Returning to Bushnell bc of noise (ball rolling around in cone). Bushnell customer service acted like this was normal..? Good thing they have the bulletproof guarantee.
Pros: Decent glass for $200 range
Cons: Poorly constructed
Best Bang for Your Buck
I used to be a binocular freak (only used Swarovski binoculars prior to these...SLC42, SLC56, and EL42) and needed a cheaper set of binos way back when for hunting trip I was uncomfortable with taking a high dollar set of binos. I looked at these, a Leupold set (almost all my scopes are Leupold), and a Nikon set. I went with these based on the clarity difference even in the store yet was hesitant cause I did not think $300 binoculars would satisfy my eyes. Well I cannot say enough good stuff about this set of binoculars...I think they are a steal at double their price. I am not saying these are as Swarovski's, but I can no longer justify the price difference between these and a $1500+ set of Swarovski's after using these for 5+ years. I don't know if it's the ED Prime Glass or the prisms or the combination BUT I guarantee you will not be disappointed with these...even if they were twice as much!
Some people like more than 8x power but I think that is the best for binoculars when hunting due to the increased field view over a 10x or higher PLUS they won't jitter as much since they are lower power (probably more of a factor up North where it's colder...hands shaking). I have used 10x and 12x but also seem to come back to 8x.
The clarity is amazing up close and even out past 600 yards, never had a problem with fogging, and they come with this bad a$$ back strap that allows them to hang in the front of your body so they are right there when you need them. Very well thoug...

Good glass, former accessories a must-have
I had these for 1 year and the image quality is excellent. Fairly compact size makes them good for backpacking or XC skiing. They also held up well to rough treatment, freezing moisture, and several falls I took from rocky cliffs. Finally I dropped them (cased) from a 50 ft tree and the tubes got misaligned a bit, causing a usable, but slightly parallax image.
I explained this to Bushnell and remarkably got them replaced under warranty. Unfortunately it no longer comes with a semi-hard case or the deluxe harness as before. Presumably Bushnell has to offer the binos separately now to maintain the low pricepoint. Still a good deal, but be sure to pick up the deluxe harness too. You'll find yourself wearing it 24/7.

- Good glass, good clarity, Good reticle, parallax adjustable

dont spend more for less
Used for hunting this weekend. Glassed a lot of area for a long time. Glad I bought these. Thanks to all the reviewers who recommended this product over and over.
I have used other bino's that cost a lot lot more but these were just as good for my use.

Great binoculars
Fantastic binoculars, great quality and very clear image.
Even in the fog the view is great! And this makes really the difference.
The binoculars are also very strong and robust, with a good rubber grip, but not too heavy.
Light enough to travel.
I can recommend this product to anyone.

Good optics, poor attention to details/build
While the optics are good, the exterior build and accessories are weak.
The lens caps are attached to the binoculars with a rubber band strength rubber ring. If you are using these binocs under rough conditions, it is only a matter of time before the rubber bands break and the caps may get lost. A binoc of this quality deserves better.
The plastic focus knob broke, allowing it to "free spin" around the actual metal knob within, making focusing difficult. Once again, a low quality part built upon high quality optics.
If you are not planning on using these in rough conditions, then I would recommend these without hesitation. Otherwise, there may be better options.
Pros: optical quality
Cons: sub standard accessories and exterior build

Bushnell 8x42 Binoculars
After researching several mid priced binoculars on optics planet, I went to the local outdoors megastore and compared some Nikons, the Bushnell 10 x 42 and the 842. For my purposes, hunting in the Southeast where 250 yards is a long shot, the Bushnell 842 gave me the best field of view and sharpest image clarity in low light conditions. Buying from Optics Planet made the deal even better. I saved about $100 and got the delivery on time with great customer service. I definitely plan to purchase from Optics Planet in the future.

bushnell legend
This is only my second pair of binos ever, and my previous set is a ten year old compact Pentax, so take my comments with that in mind.
I really like the clarity and brightness of these binos. They Are easy to hold steady and don't seem to cause much eye fatigue. I have been skeptical of Bushnell quality, but these look and feel very solid.
Two complaints: when I look at the edge of the field of view, I can see a noticeable drop off in the clarity. When I use the center of the FOV it isn't noticeable. Second, the eye cups don't stay where I put them. I like that they spin to adjust for eye relief, but they spin too easily so I often find myself readjusting them.
Pros: price, brightness, center view clarity
Cons: fringing on edges

Satisfied wife
On recent Yellowstone vacation my wife complained her binoculars. She said she wanted a pair as nice as my Gold Rings.
I caught these on sale and she loves them.
