Most Helpful Positive Review telescope for the stars
this telescope is incredible. i've owned several telescopes before and none of them have ever been as clear as this one. I actually saw the moons of JUPITER!! its a total bargain for the quality. will definetly be buying celestron products again.
Most Helpful Negative Review A bad telescope in design and workmanship
The telescope's OTA is lightweight and the dew cap is coming removed in hand completely whenever I remove the lens cap. Instead of pressure fitting this dew cap, Celestron must have fixed it firmly to the OTA. The counterweights have a pin stuck at the middle and it's certainly annoys me everytime w...

Celestron Astromaster 90EQ refractor

by Legacy Reviewer, from IN, United States Written on November 8, 2013
The slow motion hand controls are near the top of the scope and can mot be reached by hand when looking through the scope. Must move scope by hand in order to keep objects in view. Bad design.

Pros: steady views
Cons: long focal length prevents the use of slow motion hand controls

Celestron AtstroMaster 90EQ

Great Value for Money...bought as gift for my Dad, he is very pleased! Mostly beginner status with telescopes, pretty easy to set up and easy to use, brilliant view...everything looks great and we haven't even taken it off our back porch yet. Excited for summer to go stargazing in a dark field. It's bigger and more sturdy than I had gathered from the picture online. I wanted a telescope that looked hi-tech, and originally found this one to be the best for our needs, but thought it was simple. It looks and works great!!! I absolutely recommend this! I researched telescopes for days and hours on end, looked at a few more expensive celestron scopes (can't remember exactly which models) but am soo happy that I got this one. Great price, great deal, great telescope! Also, if looking at the skies, definitely get the EQ mount!! It's not hard to use and you'll be grateful that you don't have to keep readjusting every few minutes as the earth rotates
Pros: Creat picture, very sturdy, a bit bigger and more professional looking than I had thought from pictures online, easy to set-up and easy to use, DEFINITELY reccomend the EQ model
Cons: So far...no cons. I read in other reviews that the star-finder wasn't the best, but I really haven't tried it and haven't heard any complaints from my Dad. It's not like you can't use other means to locate stars either...in my opinion.

Excellent beginner telescope

An excellent telescope for anyone just starting out their adventures in astronomy. Easy to setup. Fairly easy to move around, although I recommend closing the tripod first and removing the counterweights if being used by children to prevent tipping.
Pros: Sturdy and portable
Cons: A bit heavy for children

Very nice starter scope

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on April 4, 2009
This is my first telescope. It has provided crystal clear, beautiful images of the moon, venus and saturn. I would definitely recommend it. Nice aperture size for a starter scope. The EQ mount has proven very nice and I quickly figured it out.

If your looking to get into ameture astronomy for the first time, this is a great choice for your first telescope. Easy to use and is at a great price. You really get more then what you pay for. I saw Jupiter and it's 4 visible moons and the moon looks great at 50x and 100x (you can see mountain ranges). Still trying to find saturn and with this scopes 90mm apeture, I will be able to see it's rings. If you want a good start with a new hobbie, than this is the telescope for you.
Pros: Easy to use, great value for the price!
Cons: Good for beginners, may want to upgrade eventually.
