I bought these binoculars for a sailing trip along the Baja California coast this spring. I searched extensively to find the best sailing binoculars for the money, and settled on these. You can buy better 10x50 binocs, but these are a great bargain for an inexpensive pair. You'd need to spend 2-5x more to get a better pair, and these performed well day and night. I also had access to some more expensive pairs during 3 weeks on the ocean, and am still satisfied. You definitely need the 10x50s if you're on a moving platform like a sailboat. Optics Planet was also great in providing advise, and quickly handling a customer service issue!

The compass feature isn't as visible or easy to read as other more expensive brands. still, it works just fine and of course it is less than half the price of the brands I'm comparing it to (steiner).
