I bought this to go with the Leapers tri-rail mount, and according to those directions, it's supposed to be installed between the rail assembly and the receiver cover. The problem with this is that it moves your rail off of bore centerline by the deflector's material thickness. This means as your target distance changes, you have to adjust horizontally as well as for bullet drop. Which, at that point, the scope you're trying to protect isn't as useful as it once was...

But it does do an okay job of deflecting cases. You may need to bend it a little to prevent stove-piping.
