Nikon P-223 3X9 40 scope

by Jim, from United States, PA Written on December 16, 2014
Scope has nice clarity for the price. Mounted quickly to Mount, Burris AR- PEPR, ( one piece),rigid. Objective lens focus, nice touch, power focus nice also firm, yet adjustment should hold under repeated recoil. turret zero is another plus....

Very Nice Scope

by Popgun, from United States, CA Written on December 9, 2014
This Nikon P-223 is an outstanding, precise instrument at a fair price. I particularly like the open circle aiming points within the reticle so you can reach out to 600 yards without any guess work. Another fine feature are the tactical-style turrets. This is Nikon scope number three for me, I'm very impressed with their quality.
Additionally, I like doing business with Optics Planet - fair pricing & fast shipping!...

P 233 Nikon AR scope

by bill, from United States, MA Written on October 4, 2014
Fits my ar nicely using the p series scope mount ( 1 inch), very clear at 100 yrds easy to adjust. Very good value and Optics Planet has been great to deal with.
THE BDC reticle is easy to see, but I have not shot beyond 100 yds as yet.
Seems to hold zero well, the zoom is well placed and fairly easy to adjust....
Pros:
  • Positive clicks and locking adjustments
  • Nikon, zero adjustable turrets,
Cons:
  • None

ar15 scope

by oldman226, from United States, FL Written on August 29, 2014
I have not put it on the rifle yet, but it looks like it is well made. I like the reticle and the ability to adjust easily. The scope is clear. The size is just right for the AR15. The reticle gives you different aiming points for muliple distance shots....

All I needed for the job at hand.

by Jerry Lee, from United States, TN Written on August 29, 2014
As an avid coyote hunter here in the east I quickly learned that too much optic was a handicap. This scope has more than enough power and the weight reduction over the previous optic I used was noticeable. The compensation rings are true to range and the low light quite satisfactory. So a big thumbs to Nikon and to the great service I get from Optics Planet....

Nikon 3-9x40

by Gabe, from United States, FL Written on August 29, 2014
Great scope. I also have a 4-16x42. I have them are two AR15 rifles. I love them both. Great scope for the money. They stay right on at 200 plus yards. Nikon scopes are bright and durable. I will never buy anything else. Highly recommend the scope and mounts....
Pros:
  • Excellent value
Cons:
  • None.

Great scope; lousy mounts

by Klebanoff, from United States, AR Written on August 25, 2014
Having been a fan of Nikon optics for years, I bought the scope and Nikon mounts from Optics Planet in a package deal to put on a SIG 556. The scope is excellent. The Nikon mounts are worthless! Do NOT buy them! You will be sorry if you do.

The bottom piece of the mount--that is, the part designed to clamp onto the rail--is forged out of a single piece of metal. The HUGE disadvantage of such a design may not be readily apparent, but trust me they suck! The one piece design makes it physically impossible to separate the bottom of the mount and slip it over the rail; rather you have to start at either end of the rail, wiggle the mount onto the rail, and then slide it to the desired location.

One problem is that Nikon mounts are too small to accommodate many AR rifle rails. They wouldn't fit my SIG rails. They wouldn't fit the rails on my Rock River Coyote Rifle either.

In addition, I have to question the integrity of such mounts even on a rifle capable of accepting them. Because the base of the mount is a single piece of metal, it's difficult to imagine it gripping a rail very securely even if the fastening nuts are firmly tightened.

I threw them out and bought Rock River mounts, which are very rugged and of exceptional quality.

Again, the scope is excellent. You will be very happy with it. Just don't buy the mounts!...

Nikon P-223 3X9 BDC Scope Review

by Tom, from United States, TX Written on July 31, 2014
Very good scope for the money, perfectly designed for the AR Platform... easy to mount and sight in. not too much or too little power for the .223/5.56 cartridge. The big plus is it's a Nikon product so you don't have to worry about the quality. Wish it had come with the P223 mounts and rings!...

Nikon P223 with P series mounts

by usab671, from United States, CO Written on July 30, 2014
This scope is extremely accurate and easy to zero in.

Took it to the mountains in windy weather and was accurate out at 200 yards.

The P series mounts are rock solid.

For the money, it would be hard to beat this setup....
