Id share my online order experience of optical eyeglasses through OpticsPlanet.com for the first time ever. Initially, Ive ordered Bolle Monaco eyeglasses with Prescription single vision lens (order# 2118367, zip code 20852) on 04/28/2011. Ive received the item on 05/13/2011. The item, I received was poor craftsmanship glasses, clearly indicated made in China but Ive ordered Bolle Eyeglasses that should be made in Italy. Its like ordered a Rolex watch expecting to get made in Swiss, but to get a Rolex watch made in China. Ive returned the item with a condition which I agreed to order another item using partial store credit.
So, Ive tried second time ordered Ray-Ban RB3176 SV Prescription Sunglasses Matte Black (order# 2167904, zip code 20852) on 05/23/2011. It was in stock when I placed order but its in back ordered two weeks after when I called to find out the status of the order. OpticsPlanet.com has inventory control problem. The waiting game started, another 10 days after, I was told that Id get sooner if I switch the color to gun metal and I reluctantly agreed. Ive received the item on 06/30/2011. The item is okay, about 80% satisfied.
Its a little bit heavier than I expected, the bottom line is that more than two months to get a prescription eyeglasses with compromised color selection. TWO THUMBS DOWN!!

The glasses are very good. Frame quality is what you would expect from a quality vendor like Ray-Ban. Just what I expected. The minor issue was that it did not arrive at the expected shipping date and I had to follow up with OpticsPlanet. Very helpful staffer advised me that the original lenses had broken and they were out of stock and it would be a few extra days until they shipped. It all was well handled, but I feel that a proactive advisement from the lens maker regarding why this did not ship would have been appropriate. Still, OpticsPlant handled it very well and I will continue to use them for purchases of this type.
