Most Helpful Positive Review Great bang for the buck and a nearly perfect 3-gun/tactical scope.

Great scope for CQB & mid range application

by Eric, from United States, CA Written on April 2, 2015
I was deliberating between a EOTech and Aimpoint when one of my buddies showed me the Vortex Viper PST 1-4. The decision was easy because the Vortex gave me an option for magnification up to 4x. They could have included a flip up cover instead of the lens bra that came with the scope.
However, I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend this product....
Pros:
  • Very clear glass
  • Easy to acquire target
Cons:
  • could have included a flip up lens cover

Vortex viper PST 1-4x24mm

by Dfetter, from United States, NJ Written on March 9, 2015
This a great optic for CQC, or for hunters you wish to have a fast sight picture. I mounted this to my deer rifle, browning a-bolt II. 1 and 2 power give me excellent close range detail, and 3 - 4 power allow me to reach out. Remember this is a SFP scope so you must be & 4 power for hold overs and ranging. Check out vortex.com for all the details!...
Pros:
  • Illumination turns off between all 6 settings
  • multiple reticle options
  • SFP
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Hunting, range use
  • CQC Situations

Vortex Viper

by Andy, from United States, CO Written on March 3, 2015
Sight was all that the reviews said. Had it zeroed in 3 shots. Optic came within 3 days of purchase. Sight is perfect for 3-gun or even up close shooting. The only negative is how hard it is to zoom the scope. Only way to make this scope even better is for Vortex to add in the throw lever for magnification. I know its not that expensive, but add in cost of scope, and good mount, you could end up dropping $700+ in to scope setup....

Vortex Viper PST

by Danny, from United States, CA Written on March 2, 2015
I just took put the Vortex Viper PST to the range on an AR-15 and could not be happier with the scope. Very clear glass and the illuminated reticle is one of the better ones that I have used. The small MOA center dot lets me really focus on the target and at further ranges and I found that the hold offs were right on for the projected yardage with a 55 grain bullet. I could not be happier with this scope especially with the price point. Great scope and would recommend it highly....

Good buy for the money

by Murray, from United States, AZ Written on February 16, 2015
While it is not the best that is out there, that is where you need to decide how much you're willing to spend. I have several tactical rifles and have to balance out between top quality and practical usage. We have EoTech's, 3rd gen night vision, red dots and optics on them all and as funds free up, constantly upgrading. I use these as training for civilian, military and Police, having been a LEO instructor since 1977 and now NRA, mostly involving Concealed Carry, tactical long guns, from beginning to advanced, so I need something that you may find on your clients firearms. What sells me on this product is the lifetime, no matter what, replacement guarantee. I have yet to destroy or damage any of my optics and holographic sights, but without spending the dollars of the high cost optics like Night Force or Steiner, you have something that does the job as a reasonable cost. All sighted in and working as it should....
Pros:
  • Best quality for the pricing
Cons:

Viper PST 1-4x

by Matt K, from United States, MO Written on January 27, 2015
Great scope that I plan to use for hog hunting. The illuminated reticle is great on dark targets but hardly visible on bright days. The lowest setting is too bright to use with night vision. I will buy another Vortex PST....
Pros:
  • Clear, bright optics
Cons:
  • Reticle brightness
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Tactical

Scope waiting mount

by Coldwar, from United States, AL Written on January 19, 2015
Great looking Scope not sure if I'll like SFP reticle smaller than I thought it would be.
waiting two weeks for mount. When I get it mounted and tested can give a performance review. Hope it works out to be a great 3 gun and hunting scope combo...

decent, but not optimal

by Max, from United States, VA Written on December 24, 2014
Bought this viper PST 1-4x and mounted on a Sig 556R (7.62x39). While the glass quality is good and the sight picture crisp, being a prismatic sight, there is some image shift even at the 1x setting, making this potentially not a good option if you want a true two eye open optic... The viper PST does have a good bold illumination on the reticule, and is solid and retains zero....
Pros:
  • illuminated reticule
Cons:
  • not true two eye open shooting
Best Used for:
  • medium-short ranger precision
