very good little sight

by Legacy Reviewer, Written on August 21, 2013
great little sight for the money.
Mounted on my B&T96 (swiss semiauto MP5) worked perfectly.
Holds zero well (although the gun has very mild recoil)
bright 2 intensity red dot, easy to point for a very fast target tracking.
I'll buy another one soon.
Pros: light, cheap, works
Cons: no clear feedback when sighting in...

Piece of shite

Overpriced POS. Optics planet is great. I traded mine in for a Busnell trs-25. Very high quality, couldnt be happier with it.
Pros: Looks cool
Cons: Switch broke, only 2 brightness settings, lowest is too bright for low light. Didnt hold zero. ...

Good Value Option, But a little rough around the edges

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on October 1, 2011
I've had this one for about a year now, mounted on a Browning Buckmark (.22LR)

The dot gets good and bright, and is easy to see in bright sunlight. It also has held zero through 1 or 2 thousand rounds. It's a bit of a pain to get sighted in, first because there's no feedback on the adjustment screws, but once it's there it's pretty stable.

As for fit and finish, it is actually decent, though the 3 position switch for off/low/high could be more robust. When i got the part originally, i had to open it up and clean the battery contacts to get it running consistently too. Overall, it seems ok, but not the best i've seen.

Overall, considering what it is cost wise, it's everything i expected. A few blips here and there, but overall, you can't expect much more for a sub hundred dollar mini reflex sight.

If sightmark reads these things, i'd suggest finding a slightly nicer switch, and maybe a little work on the manual. (I can understand not having feedback on the adjustment screws for cost reasons.)
Pros: Bright Dot, Holds zero
Cons: Sparse Documentation, No Feedback when Zeroing...

Sightmark MRD review

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on January 1, 2011
This sight is a great backup red dot sight. I have it mounted on a 1 o'clock rail offset as a backup/close quarters sight. It's as well made as a Docter sight, but a fraction of the price. It has 2 brightness settings, which is a plus, and an on/off switch which is nice, but unnecessary, as the batteries in these sights last for about 7 months. The on/off switch makes it sit a little higher than most other MRDs, and makes it impossible to take the sight itself off the on/of switch base and put it on to somthing like an American Defense quick release base. This is the inly reason I didn't give it a 5 out of 5.
Pros: CHEAP!!!! adjustable brightness
Cons: can't change bases...

Nice piece

Received this to play with on my SIG. Excellent optics, solid mounting, and looks great on the gun. I'm punching 1 inch holes at 25 yards at the range now.

Pros: Light, fits pistols well, quality product
Cons: documentation is still for the older model with light sensor...

Probably a good deal for the money

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on December 18, 2010
I installed the Mini Shot on my Buckmark .22 and it seems to do a good job. The dot can be easily seen indoors on the low setting and it is nice enough outside, in bright December sun in Texas, on the high setting.
There are 3 problems with my unit though. First, the Allen wrench was missing from the package. Not a big deal since I have several.
Second, the switch on the back is not firmly attached to the frame. I can feel it moving when I turn the unit on/off or when I change the dot intensity.
Third, it would not work out of the box. I thought that the battery wass not installed since there was a new one in the box. It turned out that there was a battery inside but I had to clean the electrical contacts. After that it worked very well.
I shot the Browning about 200 rounds with no problems. Of course there is not much of recoil on that .22 pistol so I didn't expect any problems.
Overall I like the dot and I am going to keep it. I am worried about the switch; it does not look sturdy at all. I would not install this on any of my 9 mm or .45 pistols or on my 12 ga. shotgun. I will keep my Burris SpeedBead for that. For a low recoil gun I think it is OK, especially for the price.

Pros: Small and good dot visibility.
Cons: Switch moves side to side. Seems flimsier than my Burris FirePoint....
